Okay. As you all know I have hundreds if not a thousand zoas. The past couple of days I've noticed that only the red colored zoas have been closed. Now I have zoas on my rack and in the sand bed and on rocks. All the other zoas are open and happy but the red colored are not except the fire and ice. I have no fish that are nipping and have looked for pest but none found. My water par are little low but nothing to low but my temp has got up to 84 the past two days so I ran less light today and tops off it got up to 79 so alittle better but everything else is fine and happy. Any ideas?????

Color specific is odd

Are you saying red in different parts of the tank?

See how things go with temp stable tomorrow
If still a problem, consider having water tested by someone else to make sure all your kits are ok

Really odd

I've noticed my Keds Reds close easier and stay closed longer than my other zoas. I don't have any other reds, so I can't say it's the same situation, but if your red zoanthids are Keds Reds (or similar) then it could just mean that they're more ****y than others.

Possibly brighter colors are just more temermental and they really reacted to the temp swing.

When I had the small colony of bam bams for the club, I cut it in quarters or so. People reported back it took forever for them to open. I had the same experience with the few polyps I kept in the tank to grow back out. Thought for sure they were gonners for about 6 weeks. Now they are open, but not happy open.

So brown and ugly will take radiation and live
colorful and pretty will flip you off everytime you miss something in the tank
and don't go on vacation--- not a day to yourself

Yea. I have red zoas all over my tank. I do have kedds red and other kinds as well. But everything else is open. I had Leighanne check it today and my water was almost perfect. Except my alk was at 8 but that won't make them close. I'm pretty sure that is was the temp swing. I'm sure it will take a couple of days for them to stop being shy

Always helps to rule things out. Lets you focus in.

Give a shout back if you don't have anybody opening by fri/sat.

I'd love to see all these zoas someday

It's not nice to not post pics

Lynn you can come by anytime. I use my iPhone to get on RC and I won't let me post pictures. But it was the POTM last month

Well I got the chiller on the tank. They look like there trying to come out slowly. I know it takes a couple of days to get back to normal

If some of them are being sensitive they could take a week or longer. But sounds like they are on the come back.
