Rediculous LFS advice

Yes, sugar is just a carbon source for bacteria. But add too much, and you can have a bacterial bloom. If you add it for a long time, then suddenly stop, you can cause the bacterial population to crash. It's a balancing act, and you have to be precise! It's not something you should do without researching first.

Wasn’t suggesting your system should be carbon dosed, just clarifying it for you. I wouldn’t dose unless you think it’s necessary.

Not sure what the benefits of dosing carbon is. My bio cube is nice n cycled, but I'm gonna start up the 40 in a day or two and wanna make sure it's right. I usually don't have issues when I set up, I've just been putting alot of time and focus on getting this system right, I just wanna make sure it all goes swimmingly :)

urinates?

urinates?

I had a LFS owner tell me that he urinates in his tanks to get the cycle going.
I did this stuff back in the day and they never suggested peeing in anything but the toilet! Just used a seed from a cycled tank?! But I was told to put a pyramid B.fly in after several aggressive fish?!

That is how they did it back in the day. Know a fish guy in Phoenix that did it at job sites during installs lmao. Can you imagine paying someone 20k to install a custom tank in your huge million dollar house then walking in on him peeing in your tank.....

Imagine explaining that to your new customer….”Um, I don’t know how to say this but **** is really good for establishing your tank. You guys mind stepping out for a minute I really gotta go.” :o

HAHAHA I fell on the floor and couldn't stop laughing at this one! Funniest s h i t ever!!
