Redoing my 150

Hey Everybody,

Looking to get some feedback on my redo of my existing tank. It's currently a 150 FOWLR with 2 anemones. I will be converting it to a full blown reef. I want to move into many smaller fish and corals from larger fish. Here's the plan-

Lighting MH ( 250W) w VHO Actinic supplementation

Filtration- Skimmer ( Euroreef), GFO Reactor, Biopellet reactor, Filter socks, 170 lbs LR, Bare sump.

Inverts- Easier SPS- ( Montipora, cat's paw, bird's nest, etc) Euphyllia, Keep current nems, and maybe some white Sinularia for movement. Open to Other suggestions. Will initially begin with frags and Limewater topoff- Will increase calcium and alkalinity supplementation as demand grows.

Fish- Rehoming Emporer, Green Coris, and Lg Yellow Tang. Will keep 3" Ocellaris ( in RBTA), and 2.5 in Eibli Angel.

New Fish-
Tangs- Powder Blue and Kole, One spot Rabbitfish
Angels- 1 Pr of Genicanthus, species yet to be determined- Had looked at a Majestic, but am going to take a break from the big angels for awhile.
Dwarf Angels- Flame, and Flameback
Lyretail Anthias- 3-5
Green Chromis- 5-7 depending on size.
Wrasses- Flasher and fairy ( local LFS has eating Tamarin pair) Number and type to be determined. Possible interest in a candycane hogfish- Always thought they were cool. Like the radiant wrasses as well
Orchid Dottyback
Sand Sifting Goby ( up for suggestions)
Midas Blenny
Copper Band Btfly

Would like to keep cleaner shrimp and a full CUC, so need to be careful with wrasse selection. I would welcome any feedback. Any initial thoughts?

Thanks,

Chris

Hey guys- I'm going to be investing a lot of time, money, blood, sweat, and tears into this project, so any feedback would be great. Especially those from the Lou, as I'm local!

i have a 210 which is basically the same dimensions just a tad wider. as for lights looks good. i have always preferred MH. the shimmer is amazing. I run 3 of them (14000K), with actinic supplements. corals look amazing.

as for the two reactors. I would hold off on those for the moment. I believe those are mostly optional. take the money and invest in a CA reactor. If i were you when you do make the switch, take all the rock do fresh water dips on all of it. replace the sand. have fun

Hey Zack- I'm in the St. Louis area (the lou for locals)... Are you a fan of cooking the rock or just FW dip? I have a great brittle star population, along with some encrusting sponges that I would hate to nuke. I was thinking of running the tank in the dark for a few weeks (after I rehome everybody) to knock out any microalgae- Thoughts?

Thanks,

Chris

if you dont have pests on the rock then no need. i had assumed that being a fowlr it was barren rock. but if its all perty and such just keep it in water while transporting
I would still replace the sand.
