i am redoing my whole sump set up. my sump is leaking and i have already resealed it once a few yrs ag. time to just get a newer one. i am looking for a 75 gal tank. i am aslo looking for a pump rated for 2000 gph with a 1 1/2 inlet and return. i have a few thing to trade and also some cash but would like to trade due to x-mas right around the corner. thanks. by the way nice set up jessie. let me know if you need anything else.

I just got a used 220 and will be taking down my 75. It won't be until after New Years. I don't know how much of rush you are in.

When he says "just got" what he means is 2 months ago, I got a tank, but I still haven't set it up. When he says "after New Years" again what that means is sometime in 2010, probably August.

 Cut me some slack, I did just pick the tank up Monday after Thanksgiving....

I have a Mag 36 for sale. I bought it from Mike Centore a few weeks ago but decided to use a different one instead and never even hooked it up. Its brand new. Its 3600 gph but you could always use a ball valve on the output.

you still running the pump externally? i like to come see it, i didnt know they were sealed.
if so what do you want for the pump?

Its not hooked up anymore. I just sold the Mag 18 the other day actually here on RC. It worked great. I had a 1" bulkhead about 2" up off the bottom of the 20g sump tank through the side glass, ran a piece of 3/4" flexible hose to the pump and then same thing from the output up to a ball valve and rigid pvc to the DT tank. The first time I cleaned the Mag 18 was when I took it apart to sell it. I never had any problems at all. They are built like tanks, not the quietest pumps though. Had mine in my basement sump. I bought the Mag 36 from Mike for $125 a couple weeks back, he said he used it like ten minutes on his 220g, I never even hooked it up because I changed my plumbing and didn't need that strong of a pump anymore. I'll sell it to someone local here for $100 if you want it. Its basically brand new still in the box.

I run a Mag 18 on my RO/DI setup to pump water from the basement to the 1st floor into my top off barrel next to my tank. I have it plumbed externally with the barrel. It's been setup for over a year. I used a union and rigid pvc from the inlet to the barrel and I have a threaded plastic barbed fitting on the outlet with flexible hose going up through the floor.

I'll shoot you a pm when it's (the tank) ready. Emptying the 75 is the first step of the upgrade and I already have the 110 gallon rubbermade in the basement.

I have a Mag24 stored away. I used it for a pond waterfall for 1-2months a few years back. I'll pull it out later today and let you know how it is.

Mag pumps aren't made to be restricted like reeflo pumps are, so I'd be careful about throttling it back too much.

They are also possible to run externally, but are not designed for that application and water-tightness at the gasket is not a Quality control issue or something the unit is specifically designed for. I had a mag 18 that I wanted to run externally that wasn't water-tight and ended up moving it to inside the sump. Not saying it can't work, because obviously it can, but just be aware that you'll have various from one pump to the other.

Did anybody notice that the box for James' mag 36 pump says, "use in or out of the water"? Just saying.

Maybe they've changed their specs...or they're selling a feature that they don't guarantee in the small print. It would make sense that the larger pumps might run better, but all I know is my experience, and that was a leaky Mag 1800 that the manufacturer told me was not covered since the pump wasn't designed specifically to run externally.
