Out of curiosity does anyone here have a red sea aquarium? Do you feel they are worth the money? Has anyone seen the new plug and play ones that don't even have a sump?
I'm thinking about what I would like for my second tank, and I really like the looks of the red sea. The price tags sucks, but the new plug and plays that come with everything, including hydra lights (I think that's the brand) are far more reasonable in price.

I'm curious as to other people's experience. If you feel they are with the money or if there is another brand that is as good or better. I'm hoping for about a 90 gallon.

I bought a Red Sea Reefer 350 about 6-months ago. I'm new to the hobby and found the complete system appealing. I really like the rank and get a lot of compliments on it. I went with the Reefer because I wanted to use LED lights and I liked the rimless look.

They make a nice package but too much $$$ in my opinion.

My LFS sells the 350 for $1,300. Good deals can be found, especially if you can negotiate one.

Is there another company out there that has a complete package available who charges less than red sea and is good quality? I'm specifically interested in their new tanks that are supposed to be coming out. They don't even have a sump, and come completely loaded, lights, etc. I think a 60+ was like 1200 or something…and you can spend that much on lights.

Try Planet Aquarium. They have their Crystaline series which is tank, stand, sump and pump. I saw one of their stands the other day and they are much better quality IMO.

I was going to get the 450 reefer series which is 92 gallons and $2,199.00 But for $350.00 more I got a Planet Aquarium 180g with a hard wood stand but no sump.

I live in UK and have a Red Sea reefer 450, they are well built and come complete with built in atu, filter socks and black sponge filter. The Red Sea range are one of the most popular ranges in uk.

Red Sea has two lines, Reefer and Red Sea Max if I got the nomenclature correctly. The reefer is basically a tank, sump, auto top off and plumbing and gives you the flexibility to purchase your own parts for the rest. The Red Sea Max series I believe is a complete package but I personally would rather pick out my own parts than whatever they bundle it with.

SC Aquariums, CAD Lights and ELOS are some of the other companies selling packaged aquariums that I can think of off the top of my head.

SC Aquariums, CADLights and ELOS are all great.

CADLights: Do a little research first. They have great tanks but their customer service can be spotty.

ELOS: Beautiful, but very expensive. If you think Red Sea is too expensive then you definitely wont want ELOS as they are 2 -3 times more expensive and the only thing you get with them that you wont get with the Red Sea Reefer is a skimmer.

SC Aquariums: Not my taste, but nice tanks and good prices. Customer services seems to be better than CADLights.

Personally when I look at how much other companies are charging for setups similar to the reefer series, the reefer starts to look more appealing.
