Thanks. Hopefully one will turn into a male (see attached thumbnail). Generally they get to be 6" in the wild. It is too soon to said; it is a sensitive fish.

stunning wrasses. How are they doing? How big will they get? Good luck to you and your fish.

Do you have any sort of screen or top to go on the tank? (Some people just remove them when they're taking pictures.) They're beautiful but doomed to the floor if there's nothing to keep them from getting out.

seriously? ahh man, what i wouldnt give for a healthy pair of those....be careful though, as said they are jumpers fore sure. not to mention sensitive as you already stated. your tank looks newly setup, are they eating yet?

Ive always really liked those wrasses, Sadly Ive never been able to keep them longer than about 6 months. Lost a couple do to jumping & the others to the super sensitive issue. Good Luck:)

They will jump. Not a matter of if, but when. They will need lots of small feedings and are sensitive and can go downhill quickly. Try Hikari mysis.

beautiful fish.... that tank looks very 'new' though. I'd keep a careful eye on your levels particularly if some of it is 'dead' rock as it appears.

That is a very sterile looking tank for those fish. Be sure to feed a LOT, and keep water quality high. GL, and keep us posted!

It's been 72 hours since they are in their new home. So far all of them have developed a nice pot belly.

The tank is newly setup with live rocks that came from my main DT. It is loaded with copepods. But Currently, they are munching on live brine, frozen mysis, frozen brine with/sprilunia, and finely chopped table shrimp.

I have 3 others in my big DT. They are just eating everything I throw in there. Since these two were caught together so; they have their own home with an Achille. So far so good; in the process of building a net for the top.

I hate to be negative but that tank looks to new for the achilles.....

I give it a month.

Don't they need a really deep sand bed due to burying and ramming the bottom and dislocating jaws?

Gee, that is pretty rude  Thanks, but pleaseeee keep it to yourself next time.

So, is the purpose of reef central simply to "ooh" and "ahh" about your fish? What should people do when they see things that are not right or potentially problematical? I am certainly NOT trying to be rude but I see some problems: An Achilles tang requires a well established tank, ideally larger than the one you are providing; those wrasses WILL jump and you are picturing an open tank; sustaining any Anampses wrasse in a new tank is extremely problematical. These are fish that you CAN sustain with multiple feedings (e.g. six or so) daily but failing that, need to hunt within the tank for their food. You can improve the odds with the Achilles tang by constantly making Nori or equivalent available.
