redtop's Ferduino controller

rott, try unplugging the IDE cable and reconnecting it, mine looses connection there sometimes for some reason when I have it powered via the PC, once I connected the 5v PSU that all stopped

hopefully after I get the new board from marspeed in place that is what I will use I bought the 5v PSU all ready

I don’t know what the heck I am doing wrong? I just copied the contents of 3 folder files, the libraries, utft, utouch and pasted it to their destination file but I’m still getting a small scale.

fired up Ferduino last night and let it run over night. I have the white tft mega shield that redtop recommended sitting on top of my arduino mega 2560 I have a 7' LCD connected with a 8" cable and 3 temp probes that all worked fine. Came in this morning and the screen was blinking on and off about 1 blink a second and the touch screen has stopped working. I have tried to unplug it waited a few seconds plugged back in still didn't work

I have 2x 7inch screens from the same Ebay vendor 1 appears more power hungry than the other.. I can get both to work overnight if I feed from one plugged in laptop via USB (high end new laptop) if I use another plugged in laptop (5yrs old) one screen crashes whether it is Jarduino 7inch or Ferduino 7 inch with the either graphic shields. If I power with 9v the arduino clones seems to get hot and only works for several minutes with that one screen. I also have the 5v power supplies (2) that Willie suggested which is/are stable on both arduino/screen combo's. I don't know whats happening exactly and the info is purely informational based on my case but I suspect the problem screen can drop the voltage of the clone arduino's down too low and they don't use the same caliber of components as the branded version. in theory 9v should work but again it is based on the tolerances and quality of the components used. in my case, the 5v volt power supply was an attractive a solution given its low cost.

This info is all based on observation rather than measurement and don't want to go much further as I have an inexpensive functional solution.

You may want to look in the Arduino code what path the library files you are pointing to; if you change it, you need to restart the arduino code as some versions remember the last path and need to be re-run to update to the new path.

That's what I did and run the calibration, button test and loaded the ferduino english master file again.

I had to use a higher quality Belkin USB cable or neither of my Sainsmart screens will work properly connected to my PC for any length of time

they both do exactly what rott said his did and even now, occasionally I have to disconnect/reconnect the IDE cable, but connected to the 5v supply, that issue is completely gone

my Jarduino screen saver mode will run for several days just fine, then occasionally I'll come home from work and it's doing the blinking thing like rott described, quick disconnect/reconnect of the IDE cable and it's back to running fine again, but it is powered via the USB on the PC

the Ferduino connected to my tank and powered via the 5v PSU has yet to do that and it's ran perfectly the whole time it's been running

I suspect all these 7 inch screens pull more amperage than the PC is fully able to supply via the USB cable, unless you have a high quality/amperage PSU built in, and it is more apparent when doing certain things or on certain screens of the code, these screens definitely pull more than the 3.2 screens

all 4 of my Megas will run these screens powered by the 10v wall wart but all 4 Megas get extremely hot doing so, the regulators on mine are just too small for that much more draw

the regulated higher amperage 5v PSU is the key to a properly functioning set up with this design

open the folder that your IDE has set for preference and look at the file name closely, it should say Ferduino_with_webcontrol_beta-master7_0, make sure it's pointed at the 7_0 version and not the original

you are still loading the Fernando's original code to get the screen display you're seeing

or just delete all the Ferduino stuff you have loaded on your PC now and reload my download and start over, might be easier

I have both versions on my PC but my download does not contain the smaller version, just the up scaled

I was wondering about that file and I don't even know where to put them, I just put them on the library file folder.

IT'S not far from you and the grass doesn't grow fast with out water
you were supposed to get it today but i hear the mail man is suffering from dehydration

I thought it would be here today also ... any of you guys see lake Erie in the news about the water being bad you that is where all the drinking water comes from here.

people made up stories that it was green coming out the tap or they could smell a bad Oder coming from it all kinds of stuff in the beginning but 4 days later it is safe to drink again

Just got mine today, they are really beautiful boards I couldn't even take my eyes off them. the bonus stamp board are nice too I was really planning to get this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Multi-Circu...=100009&prg=10283&rk=1&rkt=10&sd=201024114112 .
Willie, are you still running on single stamp?

Marc, thank you! I really appreciate it.

I've never actually connected the pH stamp, I wired it all up but never applied power or the probe, I've never really been satisfied with the PCB I made for it, I may try to get it going sooner though now and add a few other items :D

I'm strongly considering ordering a hot air soldering station, I have a fine station but it's still too big for me with some of this SMD stuff, I did manage to get my PCF8575 soldered up successfully with it though
