reduced quality in jpg (need help)

So I recently took some shot in RAW - adjusted them in photoshop and "saved for web & devise" in jpg. The quality is greatly reduced and the colors just seem dull. I host my images on photobucket so I'm looking for some advise on how to get the pictures too look like they did before uploading them in photobucket in jpg format. The pictures look fine when I save them in jpg and reopen them in photoshop, but when I upload them on photobucket the coloration is off.

Help please!

Check the color space. It sounds like your images are in AdobeRGB which is fine, but you should change them to sRGB before using them on the web. Most Internet browsers (especially on Windows) don't pay any attention to the color space the image is using.

Can you explain the color spacing to me and how to change it to sRGB? I'm very new to photography and photoshop.

"Color space" is the gamut of colors available in your image. AbodeRGB is used by default in many RAW conversion programs because it preserves a wider range of colors. Images saved for the Internet should be saved in sRGB because that's how most browsers will render them.

Before doing a "Save for web" do "Edit"/"Convert to profile" and select sRGB.

It used to get me all the time because I use Mac and Safari. It actually reads the color profile and displays it correctly to me. Because of that, I didn't notice the problem until Winders folks start complaining about my images being drab or too dark.

Same here. I noticed the difference when I was browsing using my PC.

Now...to reduce the noise.

I just read that other thread on noiseware and gaussian blur. Can you explain how to use them? or is this just something I need to play around with?

I just downloaded a copy of noiseware and first used the default settings then played with the other settings. The default worked great but being the engineer that I am I had to play with it.

Give it a try it is pretty easy to use and they have a 15 day free trial version.

I just downloaded the trial version. I'm the same way...gotta "play" with things to see how they work. Some guidance/tips is always welcome though
