My car shows/swaps are a lot easier to do because of that trailer. This hauling everything inside is for mules. :)

my wife is helping me, reluctantly, she hates getting up that early and too much rref stuff is boring. however, that does not mean she is a mule. she is a valuable supervisor, I am the mule.

smart man.....wife is not a mule.=)

Ciao,
Jen

come by the booth, you will see who is in charge. years ago she said she wanted a tank. i said no. we got a tank. who is obsessed, not her? who does the maintenance? not her. who is here putting all the stuff together for tomorrow? (taking short break to check email) Not her.

if you stop at the booth tomorrow please ask her who is the head of the family.

i like to say i am the head of the family and my wife is the neck. and you know that whichever way the neck turns....

Same here. But mines found a way to stay home. It only took her 25 years to get me trained.

No trailer = no CD player
No trailer = no refrigerator
No trailer = no microwave

But at least (I hope) we'll have AC (that works).

ooooooooooo!!!!!! tomorrow cant wait I lost almost everything recently when chiller went out and then of course there had to be a heat wave to finish the rest off I have been waiting for reef-a-palooza to get some nice pieces to start the long process of restocking my tank it looks so sad right now :(

Thanks again, Kevin. Reef-a-palooza 2007 was awesome. Especially the fire!

If we weren't forced to evacuate, I may not have noticed the beer table!

Ahahaha! Can't wait til next year!

Great event. Thanks!!!

BTW... I over heard the fashion "chicks" at the other building in their best Paris Hilton anoyed voice saying the could not believe fish were so popular.

Big thanks to all who worked hard to make RAP so great this year! The vendors were all top notch and the air conditioned venue was perfect.

Also thanks to Kevin who volunteered his time & skills to make this by far the best RAP ever! From setup to breakdown & cleanup Kevin was right there working tirelessly.

I also wanted to thank Chris from Reeflo/Sequence for hooking me up with the deal of a lifetime on an Orca skimmer. I can't wait to get this thing running!

Also, the new AquaC calcium reactors looked amazing & I can't wait to get my hands on one!!!

Came down from No. Cal. and had a great time!!! Great deals on awesome stuff you can't find up here. Can't wait for next year !!

Thanks Kevin, Greg and all else. I had a great show and have full plans on doing next year for sure. Drop me a line when you get next years figured out and I'll pay for my booth far in advance :D

That was awesome, I got so many super nice frags.
I would have bought more if I didn't have to fly with them, ended up losing 4 so far I think but that's the risk you take having to dry ship them as carry on, I love airline travel these days ;)

The fire was crazy, It was such a madhouse immediately after, it was 3 people deep looking at coral tanks sometimes. Way more people and way more frags than I could have imagined.

I will be coming out next year for sure! I think you guy's will need a bigger building though!

Thanks again
Chris

great work Kevin and all the other people that made it possible. i want to have a booth again. i actually made a bit of Money and my wife is happy. very important. of course i spent some of that money on some new frags for myself.

Chris-how do the pros ship corals wet? i know the online stores do it. maybe just not available for us getting on a plane, even in our luggage. i will have to call the airlines one day and see the policy. it would be nice to visit friends and take a frag or bring one home.

you can take corals with you on a plane packed with water, only they'll have to be in checked luggage and not in carry on. we had a few people take corals home this way and all made it fine :)

Thanks everyone for the compliments!

Yes, I think it went extremely well....especially considering the late start with the pipe-and-drape and the fire situation. (BTW, just to squash some rumors....this had nothing to do with electrical whatsoever. It appears someone may have dropped a cigarette into a small hole in the wall (from outside) and ignited a small amount of debri inside the wall) no flames were ever visible.

We attracted over 2,000 people for this one-day event...this is unprecedented!

As I've preached a gazzilion times: there are FAR more marine aquarium hobbyists in Southern California than most people realize. I made a banner depicting this fact into a visual map but it fell off the wall at RAP halfway through the day.
You deserve an annual expo for the marine hobby... convention/conference/swap/trade/consumer show, whatever you want to call it.
I WANT TO BLOW THIS THING EVEN BIGGER! THIS SHOULD BE A TWO DAY EVENT, IN A LARGER BUILDING, MORE SPEAKERS, MORE VENDORS, MORE GIVEAWAYS, YOU NAME IT...
IF YOU GUYS SUPPORT IT THEN THE SKY'S THE LIMIT!
:)

do you think if it was two days we would likely sell two times as much? or would we just pay twice as much and work twice as hard?

would there really be twice the number of attendees?

speakers would be cool. not that i could leave my booth to listen. i would have to wait for the DVD.

i also think $5 is way too little for admission. at least $10-15 next time. i paid more than that for a corn dog that lasted 3 minutes and didn't look half as nice.

$10-15 will not detern people who really want to come spend their money and if their were a bunch of speakers like IMAC has then there might be two addmissions. one for the shoe and one for the lectures.

my 2 cents.

I say blow it up Kevin, I'll be there again!
As far as shipping goes, the corals are in bad shape, they didnt like being wrapped in wet newspaper. the poci's are great the acros and montis are rough but have some color so i think they'll pull through.
I am really glad I didnt leave them in bags of water and check them in as luggage. My bag is still in OC at the airport arrgghhh. i hate United, they lose bags about 50% of the time we fly. My wifes bag made it, mine didnt and still no word on where it is..........so to re-cap on shipping, I don't know the best way, next time I'll try to give the frags to someone local and have them keep them for me in a Q tank then ship out monday fedex.
I think a 2 day event will work good, i felt compelled to hunt for frags and missed the raffle and speakers all together. I never really looked at vendors because it was so crowded and ran out of time just looking at corals, which was ok with me but maybe not as fair for the drygood vendors maybe.
