Reef Aquarium 1350 gallons in Bucharest

Mr. Andy ... we miss your beautiful tank pictures :D lol

I just got back from Bucharest, What a beautiful city ... I heard, I was too busy looking at beautiful ladies lol

I think Andy is planning a coup d'eta to overthrow the Romanian government and take power himself... I'm in! :artist: :uzi:

Andy, I have been thinking of you a lot lately with the one year anniversary since the last MACNA. I hope you are just busy having fun and not working too hard.

:wavehand:

I have a little time before my trip to Bangkok where I'm going to visit my friend Chingchai who has got the best tank I have ever seen. The pictures of his tank doesn't show the real beauty of it, you have to see it live.

About my tank...what can I say... not much has happened. I have all the equipment, some fish and few SPS corals. I put the corals just to see how they are doing before I order a lot more.
For about a month and a half my tank was full of cyanobacteria which now seems to be disappearing.
I have also kept the lights off for almost a month and some corals have grown only with natural light. I think the solar light was the best investment I've made for this tank. In the future I'm thinking on buying some LED lamps to point them in specific directions.

Not much equipment:

Skimmer
Calcium Reactor
3 Media reactors
250 Gallon Refugium
Profilux computer
200 Gallon tank for water change
1 osmosis unit
9 tunze pumps 6305

Light:

5 400 W Large reflectors
3 Solatubes
Some LED in the future

I almost have all the fish that I wanted:

zebrasoma veliferum
zebrasoma scopas (need yelow too)
zebrasoma xanthurum
zebrasoma gemmatum (2 but 1 is for my friend Peter-Nineball)
zebrasoma flavescens
zebrasoma dejardini
zebrasoma rostratum
Still need the ninth one - hybrid zebrasoma

zanclus cornutus

acanthurus achilles
acanthurus nigricans (glaucopareus)
acanthurus leucosternon
acanthurus japonicus

chromis viridis
pterapogon kauderni
apogon leptacanthus

nemateleotris decora
nemateleotris magnifica
need nemateleotris helfrichi

2 pairs of clowns

I haven't decided what anthias I will get.

Next week I will add 100 more corals.

Andy. What you did to me is invaluable. Really.
I don't know how to pay you back.
Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing my good friend in BKK.

The pic of your living room with the tank is truly a relaxing sight.
Love the ambient lighting in ur living area and the cozy sofas to sit and enjoy ur reef tank for hours must be dream come true for you.

I am trying for the same kind of ambient effect in my tank-living room set up, though much much smaller in magnitude than your build.
I am documenting my humble build in my thread. Just added my first cpl of fishes. I think we can say "size doesn't matter in reef keeping" but the passion and true dedication is what matters right? Correct me if I am wrong :lmao:

Your scape is really pleasing and true innovation and that's what keeps this wonderful hobby of ours fresh and exciting. Aquascaping is one of my great interests and it defines our build and makes it unique. When I was building my setup I had a specific plan and idea for scape, I think I was able to do justice. :strange:

Good luck on your journeys.
Waiting to hear from you and more updates and photos of this oceanslice in the making.

Andy thanks a lot for the up date. Your eye for perfection is incredible you have built a wounder. In the pictures on the bottom just about in the middle of the tank there is what appears to me to be a black pot with a hose coming out of it,would you mind telling me what it is? Thanks

Andy,

I truly appreciate people such as yourself, Peter, Chingchai and D2mini. You guys set the bar for well designed setups in well appointed surroundings. It gives me inspiration to not only upgrade but to make the home surrounding the system compliment it. Each of you have focused on the details that make the system more than just another aquarium. Im my mind that is what a true enthusiast is. Cheers to you. Thanks for sharing your passion with all of us.

Scott

WOW ! looks amazing so far !the fish look very healthy too.

with that much cement you have used, I am amazed how fast your system has cycled, and the bit of cyano is normal I think ... thank you for the updated pics :)
