Reef Aquariums of Miami??

I actually have seen a tank made by Reef Savvy and honestly I think that it is a very beautiful tank; however, the tank was rimless and did not have a canopy. If you do not plan on having a canopy, then I would love a custom, rimless reef savvy tank over a manufacturer tank, but if a canopy is involved then it is a waste of money, just my opinion.

I disagree with you on the custom tanks. Sometimes people wants a certain size tank, different style over flows, low iron glass, or thicker glass. It is the option available that make having a custom tank great. Commerical made tanks are produce a certain size and style and to some hobbist that is not good enough.

Beside, it would be scary to have a rimless tank in a very large tank.

I would have gone 20" instead of 18" tall. I hear what you are saying but everyone in the hobby are different. Some people like shallow reef tank. His vision he has of his tank is what he likes. I like deep tanks where others might like 24" tanks like you do. There is no wrong or right. I understand you like saving money on the tank to spend on better equipment. But some of us like spend the money on the tank and equipment. As long he is happy with the tank design then he will not have any regrets what he pay for his tank.

I am not trying to argue here, I just do not understand something. 48x24x18, those are pretty good dimensions I believe but do you not want the extra 6" to make your tank a 120 at 48x24x24?

The thing that I do not seem to get is the need for getting a custom tank made, when the tank you are having made is a commercially available tank? I am all about saving a few bucks on my tank so that I can spend more of my money on better equipment, like a skimmer, lights, etc.

For example, me personally if I were in your situation I would look for a 120 gallon, either used or new, either way would probably be quite a bit cheaper than a custom tank, and with the money saved comes better equipment, livestock, etc.

Now ofcourse if you would like a cube, or a ten foot tank, then a custom tank may be your only option, but from what I have seen from a lot of the build threads this is not the case.

Am I the only who feels this way?

i got a rimless 150. I say you go 48"x30"x20".. RIMLESS!!!
I know its scary but hey whats life if you dont take risks right?

Hey guys, well I understand everything you guys are saying but the main reason why I went with an 18" over a 24" is because the glass thickness would change since its a rimless tank. And you know once that changes, then that price goes up a bit.

Do you keep a big wet-dry vac at your house? :eek2: Sorry, I wouldn't have the guts to try that. I guess I don't trust the silly-cone that much.

the price will change a bit my @ss!!! lol, it changes a lot..
But i see what ure saying.. What i did was i went 20" high but my water level is @ 18".
That gives me 2" so i can blast whatever current i want and when i clean my tank water wont splash out

This guy is a complete joke. His tank first had several leaks then he "fix them and with in 3 month the walls separated. Also he does not ever deliver the work on time. If he says 8-10 weeks estimate 30 weeks if he ever delivers and will only happen after you chase him around everywhere to get your product. And he offer top quality equipment charges for it and then either does not deliver or gives you the cheapest equipment availble. The guy is a complete scam. Will not recomend anybody to buy even a snail from him

I actually stop by there a few days ago and it seems like that place has been sold and there is a new owner. I spoke with him a little and he is redoing the store. Nice guy I'll check it out when he opens

i think one of the stores in Pinecrest is taking over. maybe Reef Top? it will be a good addition to Bird Road.
