CaribSea Rock

Honeycomb rock looks the most purous but I hear about HiRocks and Reef Bones alot.

I got really nice pieces from reeferrocks.

They sent me pics of exactly what they were sending. I was very pleased with the service and the shapes of the pieces.

I am having a phosphate problem now however and not sure if it is related to the addition of this rock or not. I probably should have cooked the rock before adding it although everyone told me that it would be fine to rinse it off and dump it in.

Premium reeferrocks!

This is 400 lbs. The smallest is bigger than a football. Capt. Jer was great to deal with:) He added 100lbs of rubble also for dirt cheap for frags and for filling. The layout is 96" X 30". he will send pics of various layouts and you pick which rocks you want:)

EDIT: Guess I can't link from my old hosting page, so here is the link to the thread... Sorry

Rocks

I went with the collector's edition from reeferrocks. I was extremely pleased with the selection I received and the service. The rock was very porous and varied in shape. You can ask for what ever type of pieces you want.

Talk to Capt. Jer. Ask him to send you a picture before it is sent so you can see it.

I don't know if its worth it, but this is how cool cpt. Jer is. He said he would send me a pic one day, but he couldn't take the pic untill the next day. So what he did was upgrade me from Premium base to Collectors! All he did was send the pic one day late. Not even a full day, more like 11 hrs. Great customer service. I would definitely buy from him again.

This should further solidify your choice....
I ordered 50 lbs of collectors base rock from Reeferrocks.
When It arrived- I ordered another 50 lbs. This timeI requested that Capt. Jer
send me just Two large rocks. When this arrived it was NOT what I
ordered! It was still incredable just not what I ordered. When I
told Capt.Jer about the mistake, He quickly emailed a photo of Two large
(incredable) rocks for my approval, and shipped them right out-
ON HIM!!!!. He also apologized profussly and told me to KEEP
the other 50 lbs of rock!!!!!!
BEST customer servive (and rock) on the planet!!!!

He does it all the time (no charge) BUT you should still ask for the pics in the "Comments" box on his order form - it's also where you make your speacial requests- like for 2 big rocks.

well i promised capt jer i would praise him up and down for the order i got.
well i tell you now OMG it was wonderful. i just wish i had a camera to show you. the first time i called i got this bizzy little kid who was so distracted he would not even help me. i was very put off and was about never to order from him ,but because of all the very positive feed back i called again well i ordered 55 lbs of the premium and because of the mix up capt jer gave me collectors 63 lbs of it. its some of the most amazing rock i have seen you can NOT go wrong with capt jer he has got a life long customer.

OK.. so I found this thread while looking for feedback on reefbones I was thinking about using for base rock. After reading the above, and doing some other looking around, I'm sold on reeferocks.com

So, here's the question.. Should I just use reeferocks for the base, or use it for the complete aquascaping? If so, what would everyone recomend for seeding it?

Thanks,
Dan

The rock I got from HiRocks (admittedly the "standard quality" not "premium" or whatever) was complete garbage. It looked like it fell off a building. It was ORANGE. I haven't tested to see if it's even calcium based (using vinegar to see if it dissolves). I'll post pics. It's utter trash, I could have had better rocks by picking up pieces after a car had crashed into a concrete barrier. I wouldn't complain if it was free, but since I paid for it, I feel the right to complain that I basicallhy paid $60 for a chunk of hihway. Maybe that's what "Hi Rocks" stands for... "Highway Rocks"...
