Reef Club Field Trip to LiveAquaria!!

Anybody interested??

I talked to LiveAquaria the other day and was asking some general questions. The wqoman I spoke to was so friendly, I asked about reef club tours and she said that LiveAquaria gladly welcomes reef clubs. So let's plan on one eh!!

I was thinking after the new year, obviously. Maybe take a few SUV's (my Cowboy Cadillac (Ford Expedition) can hold 6 adults comfortably)... Maybe plan for it some time in the Spring so we have time to plan.

This would be open to anyone, I imagine. I'd have to check on acceptable group sizes. I still like the idea on mutiple Minnesota reef clubs joining together on this trip. As far as I know, it's free.

Hells bells, we could go one step further and have a guest speaker come up and make it a large reef club meet. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here, but I would be more than willing to dive into this and investigate.

Spread the word to respond here if anyone is interested.

We should all just try and go for the frag swap in June this year, you'll get to see the same stuff, including a cool speaker but have the advantage of all the traders, the store in Rhinelander doesn't actually stock a ton for sale.

Only problem with waiting until the frag swap is that, and I am guessing here as I have never been to it, you'll be elbow to elbow with 100's of other people. I kinda like the more intimate feel with a just a few of us, or whatever. I hear ya on waiting, but who knows?!? Figured I'd throw this out there.

I still have to talk to Jason but I'm game for a field trip. The frag swap seems like a good time to go to me. They'd have so much for us to see and I might like chatting with some of those 100's of people I'm elbow to elbow with. I always love door prizes! I've never been there but both times Tiffany and James have talked about it, it sounded pretty cool. Either way, I'll probably go. One thing to consider...entrance fee for the swap (don't remember what it was) and if there would be a fee for just our club touring or whatever. Still, the chance to buy some cool corals etc is pretty appealing to me. Great to have some discussion going now we we can decide what offers more what we're looking for now and start planning. I wonder if it's hard to find a place to stay that weekend? With the possibility of a large group going, we may need a good handful of rooms.

yeah, I'd be interested also, but the fees of doing such is my question.

Gosh, I could almost say lets wait for the swap, and rent out a local motel or something down there for the MN reefers to have a meeting, maybe our own frag swap down there too.

When they announce the final plans for the frag swap they reserve 80 or so rooms at the Holiday Inn (that's where the banquent dinner is) and list other motels to try, we stayed at the Super 8, I think it was $80 a night and the cost was $40 each for the swap and banquent dinner, if you just want the swap it's $15 but not sure if that gets you the tours or not. It should be crazy this year, it's been growing every year but that just means more frags to buy, with a group we could sprawl out and find the good stuff. I'm just hoping I can get the week off work again this year.
