Reef Crystals Salt Mix

I use it. Good stuff IMO. A mixed batch at 1.0265 yields about 420 calcium, 12 dkh and 1290 mag.

If its good enough for Drs. Foster and Smith's coral farm, its good enough for me. :)

I have used it. I never got it to mix to a calcium of 420 though. Usually about 350. Although I did use a hydrometer instead of a refractometer. I had great luck with it.

Thanks. I currently use Instant Ocean because that is all most of the LFS in my area carry. But I'm going to order salt from Drs. Foster and Smith and a bucket is only a few dollars more than IO. I think I'll try it.

Every bag I have ever purchased has been "wet".

I have never had good luck dissolving it no matter how long I wait or what method I use. There are always a lot of white crystals left that will never dissolve. The final mix always needed a good bit of tweaking to get to my target SG.

With my system, pH was harder to maintain when I used RC salt, and I never noticed much of a boost in the calcium level. I guess that might explain the white crystals.

I had to switch back to IO salt. Had enough of RC.

All that being said, I never had any serious problems with it after I finally got it into the tank. I just seem to have an easier time with IO salt.
