I have been a Tropic Marin user for quite some time, and I recently tried the Pro reef salt. I really don't see much of a difference compared to when I was using the regular Tropic Marin. That being said, I was curious about trying Reef Crystals as it is significantly cheaper to purchase. I was just curious how many people are using reef crystals and how they like it?

I've been using the Tropic Marin Pro for about 6 months, now. I've also used the regular Tropic Marin. I like how they dissolve much better than the IO/ RC. With either of them, especially the Reef Crystals, I had some muck at the top of the water after mixing and aeration. This was with RO/DI, so it wasn't junk in the water.
The Tropic Marin seems to be a finer powder and I think that's why it dissolves faster...

i just ran out of my first bucket of tropin marin - and was wondering the same thing - you might do a search there was a thread (last couple weeks) where someone was questioning the value of the tropic marin elements etc vs other salts... after comparing values they were saying the tropic marin was no better -

I started using Reef Crystals about a month ago and my calcium stays at about 410 or so and so far ph stays at 8.2 and alk is fine. For me it dissolves great in a 45 gal. rubbermaid and a max-jet. No issues so far and I just bought a 5 gal bucket of the stuff. I'm glad I bought a small bag at first to test it and now I do not think I'll even research any other salt.

So far so good for me. Calcium stays around 400, alk around 10dkh. Seems to dissolve faster than IO, but other than that I couldn't tell you if it's more valuable than IO (it does cost a few bucks more per bucket). I'm keeping my eye on Red Sea Coral Pro to see how it works out for others. This thread may be of interest to you.

RC works better for me. Started w/ IO, but had probs with it disolving. On my 5th bucket of RC and still working good.

That is why i switched to RC. Dissolves alot better then IO.
