Reef Fish Advise Please

Hello, I am looking for some info on the following. What are the best reef fish that can be kept in a 46 gallon tank. I currently have the following setup.

46 Bow front
58 lbs of LR
Mixed reef corals
1 green serpent star
1 blue leg hermit
9 margarita snails
10 cerith snails

1 diamond watchman goby
1 lawnmower blennie
2 false percula clowfish

Today I got rid of my Yellow Tang which was obviously a rookie mistake on my part. He was not happy in my small setup. I don't want to make that mistake again. He was tough to catch!

MY clown fish don't interact with the reef much. They stay in one corner of the tank and only venture out when feeding time comes around. The goby and the lawnmower aren't much fun either. The pretty much stay in their lair until feeding time as well.

I am specifically looking for some great, REEF SAFE, small, colorful fish to add to my reef that will spark interest of the viewer and not eat my corals.

I also have this posted in the Reef Discussion forum. Please excuse the dual posting. Thanks all.

Dave

If you're not going to cry if your hermit might end up dying, go for a 6-line or similar wrasse. They are very active fish that spend all day zooming in and out of your rock work eating pods. They're also good for taking care of pest snails and flatworms, should you have trouble with them.

I'm assuming by reef-safe, you're not willing to risk angels, but if you were, I'd think about one of the dwarves with better track records, like the true pygmies (Cherubs are generally the nicest), or a Coral Beauty or Flame.

IMO, skip a sixline wrasse. they are EXTREMELY aggressive and will for sure not help getting shy fish to come out more. for a tank where they are the only fish they are great though.

IMO, I would go for a pair of firefish, and 1-2 wrasses (my faves are yellow coris, carpenters flasher, filimented flasher and red headed fairy), added in that order. all three fish are constantly out and about in my tank, and their only other tank mates are a pair of clowns and a YWG.

get a wee hawkfish like a falco, lyretail or flame
hawkfish love to perch on coral and will scoot around all day, periodically looking at you and staring at whatever interests it. Very behaviorally interesting, very colorful.
