Reef Flakes in a 12 gal long - how much?

How many pounds of Eden Reef Flakes for a 12 gallon long. Just want a shallow minimalistic look but don't want it blowing and leaving bare spots.

Live or dry best for new tank set up?

What do you recommend?

For a 12-long, for a shallow look but with enough volume to prevent bare spots, you'll need between 6 - 10 lbs.

Dry is fine for a setup if you're planning on cycling the tank, one rinse should remove most of the dust from it. If you're looking to short-cut cycling time, live sand is going to speed things up.

Personally I have used both the dry and the live, and the only difference was a few days' worth of cycling.

Do the Reef Flakes come in a 10 pound bag? Searching site and didn't see that size - maybe I missed it which is possible.

What's the smallest dry bag available?

Smallest DRY bag is the 20lb variety... I can almost promise that if you order a bag and only need half, someone near you would gladly buy the other half off of you... Especially if you wait until we've been sold out for a week. Since they only ship once a year, Reef Flakes are like gold.
