reef flo dart question

so if i have a 1.5" bulkhead and do 4 1" returns would that be ok for a dart on a closed loop? or would i get cavitation?

You will be fine. 1.5" inlet is the minimum recommended by sequence.

What is cavitation? I have drilled my tank with a 2"BH fot the inlet and 4x's 1"BH for the returns.

You too will be fine Cavitation is actually "The sudden formation and collapse of low-pressure bubbles in liquids by means of mechanical forces, such as those resulting from rotation of a marine propeller".

As far as with pumps, I've heard it two ways... First being the inlet is restricted to the point that the pump can not pull enough water and second, the intake draws air from the surface

cool. thanks. i got the tank today and it's drilled with a 1.5" intake for the cl and i should get the dart next week. whoohooo.
