Reef health update at Hawaii

Hi Guys,
recently had the pleasure to visit Hawaii again and snorkeled in various locations. Will be writing a multi-part series of my snorkel experience to document the reef system overall health condition of the Hawaii Oahu area. I am starting my post with the wonderful Waikiki reef system with photos taken by my iPhone with an Otter case. Please see the post here: http://thewetandwild.blogspot.com/2015/04/20150428-hawaii-vacation-waikiki-snorkel.html

Some of the best diving in Hawaii can be found off Kauai at an island called Ni'ihau. The pelagic life and volcanic rock structure are amazing! If you get a chance definitely check it out!

Oahu reefs are not that good till you go out further since Oahu is so over crowded and has been the main tourist island for too many years. Good luck trying to get on Ni'ihau, I thought only Hawaiians were allowed on it?

I remember we used to go diving for live rock back in the day on the south side of the island, just pull over to the side of the road and go diving for rock. I even got live sand one time and when I got home that day, opened the cooler with the sand and a polyp was just staring back at me.
