reef keeper lite vs elite

I am in the process of making a decision to purchase a reef keeper lite. I want to know what the elite can do that the light cannot. I want to make sure I consider everything I need. If both are expandable, then why not just get the cheaper model and build on it? Any info appreciated, especially from those who own one. Thnx

This question is better suited for the Lighting, Filtration, and Other Equipment forum, but I am glad to help here.

The RKL can use 4 modules maximum, while the RKE can have up to 63.
The RKL has a two line display, the RKE a larger matrix display (multi-line).
Other than that, they are functionally the same.
For $150-200 you can upgrade the RKL to an RKE, and continue to expand.

Have you considered the Neptune Apex or Apex Lite? I mention this because I have, use, or have used the RK2, RKL, RKE, and the Apex. The Apex is by far my favorite, and can be more cost effective.

Hope this helps,
Landon

you can piece together the RKL for less, but for some, they like the better looking Display unit. something to impress the guest with.

I started with the RKL and loved it soo much I bought another RKE for the main and use the other on my QT tank for the heater , lights and pumps love it and for the price 99 bucks you can't go wrong ..the pc4 alone cost 89 bucks and if you ever upgrade you can have extras for the RKE..

I was browsing the digital aquatics forum and it appears the lite model is going up 20 bucks on the 1st of the year so i ordered one this morning. I cant wait til it arrives.
