reef keeper lite

I got mine from aquacave $4.95 shipping and there is a discount for rc that basically makes it free shipping

how did ya get the discount code?

I have dealt w/ aquacave before and would again-but I believe they are out right now.

This is great info - especially for those of us who have already experienced an over-heat this season.
Thanks guys.... I'll keep following along.

I ordered mine thru ABC Reefs. I went with the Reef Keeper Plus package. Then ordered my ATO afterwards. ABC Reefs matched the online price as well. Kudos for that.

The funny thing is the whole package including the ATO and both probes *still* sit new in the box waiting for me to get it all installed... :o

I have to read up on everything and understand it before I install everything. Maybe next weekend..

When you do get around to it, make sure you use one of the end outlets of the power strip for your ATO pump. Lower power devices dont work so well in the middle outlets and can get stuck on.

I recently ordered the RKE with a couple extras through ABC. It adds up fast, but man does it do some cool stuff! I'll post up my programming once I get the 120 up and running. The only gripe I have about the reefkeepers is (1) standby cycles (turn things off for x minutes such as feedings an only be initiated from the controller, not from a push button switch (2) the more advanced programming sometimes sacrifices an outlet for logic (the dual outlet heavy duty has 3 virtual outlets which solves this) (3) in some cases three triggers for an alarm event isn't enough

that set aside it is pretty cool and easy to learn!

ABC beat the on-line prices for me, though I did buy quite a bit of stuff at once.

OK just spoke w/ Tim and he can get it in-Blurry thanks for the reminder-and where in the pool are you? Did I already ask? I am in Pitcher Hill

I have another cool hint for setting up your head unit that I copied from Sg 1838. Velcro the head unit to a handy spot on the front of your stand. The wire that attaches it to the PC 4 is long enough to pull the unit off the stand and use it at a convenient distance whether you're standing or sitting at the aquarium. It's a lot handier than having to bend over to operate it.

I ordered mine direct from DA and they have a $4.95 shipping option. At least I knew they had everything. For $99, you can not beat the value! even if you only used it as a set of four timer's you are getting more versatility and protection (safe starts and such).
I went with an extra PC4 for mine and came in at 185 WITH the possibility of adding PH/ATO/ORP later and a NET module! I really appreciated the fact that I didn't have to put up a ton of cash for features I may or may not use later.

Plus the FREE MyReef software that is coming out soon and the firmware upgradibility of the modules, increase imho the value of your purchase. Oh, and they have a nice upgrade offer if you ever want to go to the RKE.

It has already prevented an overheat in my tank. Also, I have 3 heaters in my set-up (paranoia over having one go bad before) and it was a pain to regulate the temp with 3. Plugged them all into a powerstirp and plugged that into one of the higher capacitiy outlets (1&4) and PERFECT low temp control!!

One added little feature that is kind of cool is that the headunit will tell you how much amperage an outlet, a pc4 or the entire system is drawing.

HTH

well thanks that is all great info-didn't think of the powerstrip trick/i too have 3 heaters/so the first upgrade would be another pc4?

so what would the rke have over what you just got? I forget?
