Reef Lights
I have some reef lights on my 220 which go on after the T 5s go out. They are on say from 11 pm till 7 am the next morning.

I am curious whether others do the same. The reef lights do illumunate the tank and am not sure if the fish actually sleep(although they are much less active) when thry are on.

Should the tank eventually fall into complete darkness?????
Thanks Mates

I turn the moon off at night, some of my corals only extend their polyps in complete darkness. I also have about 5 hours complete dark.

A few meters under the water you will not see the light from the stars.

I see no harm either way. I am assuming you are talking about moonlight LEDs. Many claim it is beneficial to cycle your moonlights to simulate phases of the moon. I am not aware of any documented proof that this will induce spawning but it sounds promising.

Mine are on a 8-9 hours photoperiod with the rest darkness. except for what ever light they get from a nearby LED night light..
