Reef Lobster

Just wondering if any one has had experience with reef lobsters. are they tank mate friendly? i like the looks of them but do not want it eatting my other inverts. have not found alot of info.

As in the purple reef lobster? They can kill and eat fish when they get larger.. Usually don't bother corals though

IMO, they really aren't worth getting. Besides what was mentioned above, they tend to hide a lot, and you won't see it all that often.

I was given one, the previous owner never saw it once going into the tank. I think it ate a few of his inverts as well. I have it in my refugium/sump as a sump monster, along with monster bristleworms. I have yet to see the thing! IMO not worth it at all.

I have one of the smaller ones that was a hitchhiker and have not seen him but once in 6 years in a 15 gallon. He catches and eats a smaller fish now and then but the snails and urchin and corals I have not noticed a difference in their populations. I would not have spent money on it myself and would not have it if it were not a hitchhiker.
