my wife got a me a magazine subscription for christmas. she said if it wasn't the one i wanted i could swith publications (haven't sent our money yet). i've never read a reef keeping magizine before so i'm asking for your opinions...which is the best monthly magazine dedicated to the keeping of reef aquaria?

Thats a tough one, Coral, is a Magazine I believe. Also I think Calfo has a new series out kinda like a reef magazine.

Also their are about 2-3 online magazine. Like Reefkeeping.com and advanced aquarist.

Which one did she give u 1 2?

And I havent heard of any reef only magazines but if you find one let me know.

I have one to aquarium fish magazine, it is ok and has some good tidbits and is something to read in the bathroom.

I really like Coral Magazine, I have learned quite a bit from it. There's another one that ATR sells that is not too bad, but aimed at a much more general and less educated audiance. Then there's Anthony Calfo's C the Journal, which is "interesting", but so far not not very informative...

If you join the International Society for Reef Studies you will get the journal Coral Reefs for free, membership is $80/year, a little pricey, especially when you can access this journal online if you have university library access. This is a lot more technical of a publication, which may not be your style.

By far the best bang for your buck is AHABS, if you like invertebrates no other hobbiest publication that I have read is as well researched and in depth. Plus, I really need someone else locally to read it so I have someone to discuss with :P
