reef noob

We were planning on putting the live rock up the left side of the tank to hie the corner flow, then tappering it down to have the sandy area on the right side of the tank.

No we're using a HOB filter. ;)

What type of HOB?
You will probably have to add a couple of power heads for circulation.
What are the dimensions of your tank? I thought you had a standard 55g AGA

Piling them up in one corner would definitely give you more space on the sand. I keep playing with the Idea of doing that myself but all my corals seem happy where they are. Once you move one coral it seems to be the domino affect because I can't let this one touch that or this needs more flow, etc. The next thing you know several hours have past and i will be suffering from a achingback.

Oh well, one of these days!

Just make sure that you do not pack the rocks to tight. Stack them
loosely (yet secure) so you can get good flow through the liverock.

Fish only aquariums are much more easy than reefs. I think if you get a predator tank you should put a great white, and sperm whale.

wooo! GO GATORS!

@ kingfisher, i was kidding about the HOB. :)

Hey, I got an Aquaclear 110 ! It is not that crazy. It is my only mechanical filtration and good for running carbon , purigen or what ever. It has a nice matting of algae growth on the waterfall that I believe does a good job scrubbing the water.

@ Kingfisher, we'll have our mechanical in our wet/dry. There's nothing wrong with a good 'ol HOB. Used them in my freshwater tanks and they worked great.

Punisher...I'm not gonna lie...Meyer is pretty hardcore...Matt's impressed. lol.

Well I wanted his middle name to be Spurrier but the wife shot that idea down. I really had to trick her into Meyer as a name, she didn't realize the significance until she said she loved the name. I'll post some pics of my tat's later.
P.S. Sorry about derailing your thread but once you get me started on the Gators it's tough to calm me down.
