Reef Octopus 1000 skimmer

Got a new Reef Octopus 1000 Skimmer for my sump, I got it dialled in so it wasn't overflowing, now all of a sudden it's overflowing no matter what I do to the output valve.

I'm still cycling my tank so there's probably nothing to skim but I just not sure what's changed to cause it to overflow like this.

How low is the cup?

I have the skimmer in the sump and water is roughly 5.5" high

I measured the skimmer, it's exactly 6" in the water

Hope this is not too old, but it always happens to me when I put in a new filter sock. Did you wash your filter sock before you put in your tank. I think it contains soap that makes the skimmer go crazy.
