Reef octopus silencer gargling?

hey guys i did a water change today and when i turned my skimmer on i hear a loud gargling sound in the silencer tube. does anyone know how to fix this? this gargling sound never occurred before. the silencer was always dead quite sucking in air. is there a way to quite it down some. thanks

no not the T fitting i made but the silencer its self attached to the tube thats attached to the pump to create bubbles in the skimmer. i took it apart, cleaned it, see if there was any water in the tube (blew on it but no water), ran it in a 5 gallon bucket, still the sound was still there. now im just wondering if its always been there and just now noticing. anyone else here have a reef octopus that their silencer is making this noise? i have the xs 160 skimmer if that helps.

Did you ever resolve the problem? I have the same skimmer, and I don't know if I just didn't notice before or if it just started, but I am getting the gurgling as well.

Upon closer inspection of the silencer, I think it may just be poor design.

Yep, on the to do list. Don't know why the designed it this way to begin with though.
