Good morning. I purchased this skimmer from Premium Aquatics about 3 weeks ago. It is frequently failing to restart after turning it off during feeding, water changes etc. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi,

Have you tried pulling the impeller out and reseating it? It's a possibility that the front cover of the pump may not be tightened down all the way, allowing the impeller to pop in and out as well.

Let me know what you find out after trying this.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I reseated the impeller. The problem is continuing. The skimmer has even stopped running twice on its own. I can try again to reseat the impeller. Do you have any other suggestions? It skims great when its running but Im getting frustrated with this unit.

Hi,

I have an inquiry into Coralvue for this to see if David has any other ideas. As soon as I hear back I will let you know.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I spoke with David @ Coralvue. He is asking that you send the pump back to:

Coralvue
38190 Commercial Ct.
Slidell, LA 70458

He said once he gets the pump he will have it repaired or replaced, and shipped right back out the door for you. Please include your name and shipping address, as well as a short description of the problem.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy - I reseated the impeller again. So far so good. Im trying to avoid being without my skimmer for a few days. I'll send the pump if I have any further troubles in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately I came into this forum to post the same problem with my SRO 2000int. I purchased mine about a week ago. I hate to smear the Reef Octopus name but just providing feedback.

I will try to reset the impeller tonight as I have not tried that yet.

Jeremy - Pump stopped again midstream this morning. Please give Dave a heads up that I am mailing the pump along with a description of the problem to him today. Thank you for your assistance.

Reset impeller and all is good. I did have to do it twice (once to get it restarted but then I unplugged it again to get everything re-essembled and it wouldnt start again). No issues yet of it stopping mid skim.

CoralVue has had my pump since Monday with a full description of the problem. There has been no communication from CoralVue to date. Jeremy- I assume you contacted them today, but they still have not responded. I have been 7 days without the skimmer. I sent CoralVue an email a few minutes ago. I expected a prompt response from them, so I'm disappointed.

Mine just stopped mid-skim. Reseatting impeller didnt work. I'll have to wait until tonight to remove the front cover of the pump and remove/reseat impeller that way.

BTW, Coralvue sent me an email response that indicated they sent the pump last Thursday but forgot to send me any tracking information.

Isn't that the only way to reseat it?

I have had it stop once and all I had to do was remove the air hose connection on the pump and just push the needlewheel back flush again; it started back up.

However, the other two times I have had to remove and reseat the cap/O-ring portion as well.

Did you get the replacement in yet and back up running?
