I received my skimmer today but I have no idea what this screw is for, can someone point me in the right direction?

It could be the screw that holds the bracket for the air intake silencer.

Here is a schematic: http://www.aquacave.com/Manuals/CORALVUE-SRO2000I-instruction-manual.pdf

Great skimmer but it is very sensitive to water level. I am happy with mine.

To make mine discharge under the water (quieter), I put a spa hose and a 90 degree pvc pipe fitting with a couple of holes drilled in the 90 degree fitting for air venting.

The screw that holds the air bracket is a flat head, so the one the OP is showing may just be an extra screw thrown in.

Run it in 5.75" - 6" of water. Adjust the bubble break to the bottom of the collection cup. Be patient, an adjust slowly from there.

Thanks, I got it used so I figured it was something misplaced in there. On my current skimmer it looks like the screw that holds the air silencer to the lid of the cup.
