Reef Octopus suddenly full of bubbles

I'm so frustrated right now...

My Reef Octopus Classic 150int is suddenly overflowing with bubbles. I shut it down to change the filter bags in my sump and empty/rinse out the collection cup - turned it back on - and tons of bubbles inside of my sump as well as the bubbles/foam is just flowing like wild out of the collection cup. I have absolutely no clue why this happened. I have the gate valve wide open and it doesn't change a thing when it comes to the bubbles. I've never had an issue with the skimmer (3 weeks of running) until yesterday....HELP!

When it's running, it produces so many little bubbles in my sump that my return pump is pushing wild amounts into my 120g display.

Check the air line in to the Venturi. Sounds like it may have gotten clogged somehow

This is normal, it has to settle back in.

I always set my new socks in the fuge section of my sump for a few minutes. If I change to a new sock without soaking them, my skimmer also goes nuts.

The overflowing bubbles won't hurt the water. They are basically water.

This used to happen to me as well. Now I leave the skimmer off for 30min after changing the filter socks and water changes. Works like a charm.

It been a couple of days and I still get bubbles galore, but it's showing sings of reducing. I just have the drain line going back to the filter sock for now, should be back to normal by tomorrow.

If you drain your cup back into your tank you're just polluting it. Put the drain into an external bucket. Don't dump it back into the water.

Everything was coming out clear, wasn't too worried about polluting it, my skimmer calmed down today and produced noting but a good foam throughout the day. Anyway I just changed their filter sock to an old one I had cleaned. All better now.

You still need the skimmer drain line to empty into a cup/container that is outside of your system. Discard the contents of the bottle down a drain as needed.

when it is not acting up that is exactly what I do. I figured for a couple of days it wouldn't be so bad given I have read a few posts where advice is to turn off the skimmer for 24 to 48 hours (depending on the reason for the advice). I figured redraining it through the filter sock for the same time period would have similar results as turning off the skimmer. had I been draining it I would have needed some time off work to continue to replace the water to avoid a salinity drop, I mean it was really skimming wet.

Now that it is back to normal I'll be going back to the weekly draining into an empty waterbottle.
