Reef putty/underwater glue?

Most of the time, things I putty in my tank stay where I place them.
Sometimes they fall off :sad2:

If I can glue a frag, then it almost never falls off, but I have to do that out of the water.

I have two questions.

1. I have heard you can glue underwater, in the tank? How do you do that?
2. Any putty techniques or brands that people have found that increase the chances of success?

best technique in the world...

Add superglue to frag
squish epoxy against superglue on frag
add super glue to the epoxy
press frag into place with a little pressure and maybe turning a little to break the seal that occurs when the super glue hits the water. Win!

i use aquamend or jb water weld(found at home depot)

aquamend is the best, but water weld will do the trick.

I use loctite super glue gel

I've been told that your protein skimmer will go a bit nuts for about 24 hours after using the epoxy in the tank. I've never noticed that with mine, but perhaps something to watch for if your skimmer is one that needs to be watched for overflow/issues.

I've had good luck doing this superglue/epoxy technique using whatever superglue gel is available on sale, along with the underwater epoxy putty housebrand sold at the local Ace Hardware.

Good luck!
