Reef Radiance Evergrow IT2040

Any one use these on a reef? Plan on getting one for my twenty high hard coral dominate tank, plan on adding more acros and a maxima clam.

I have the EverGrow IT2040 over my 70g anemone tank and 2 IT2080's over my 180g sps & lps tank. They have been running 24/7 for 9 months now. Well made fixtures. You might shop around as there are several distributors all selling EverGrow and they have different led layouts. The last time I looked at Reef Radiance fixtures, they were very close to a 1:1 blue to white ratio which is WAY too white. Even 2:1 is better and 3:1 would be better yet IMHO. And at 1:1 or even 2:1 you don't really need red and green leds as you get more than enough red spectrum from the white leds. You see white, your corals and their zooxanthellae see 30% blue and 30% red and a few other colors. The extra red and green leds make for too much red and potential increase in zooxanthellae growth (brown corals) or even nuisance algae.

The main reason i like the reef radiance is because they seem to have the most leds per fixture and i liked the way they were setup. We'll see what pops up in the future but for now i think that i will get these lights.

Where did you get te it2080's as i only noticed the it 2040's on the website.

EverGrow makes an IT2060 which is the same number of leds as the 2040 but is 24" long rather than 16". And the IT2080 is twice as many leds (99) and 32" long. There are several distributors in the US that sell EverGrow fixtures.

This is great feedback and why I love RC. I just stumble onto their site and looked over the various models. Sorry to hijack you post, hossa81, but what would you guys recommend for a 72g bow front, with fish, some anemones and few corals? I'm planning on adding more corals. I'd like the IT2040 and 2060... Would one of these be enough? Would appreciate any recommendation.

I think 2 of the EG IT2040 ($640) would be great for any kind of coral in your tank. The IT2080 will have almost the exact same number of leds in a single 32" fixture which will cost less ($450). RB sells a version of the IT2080 that has the same number of leds and is 48" long, you could consider that as well. I have 2 of the IT2080's over my 180g 6' tank and I love them.
