Reef-Rat Update

WOW!!! The ultimate SeaSw... Ooops!!!... heh, heh!!
Not only will it be a neat DIY project, but it will be available to fit many applications.... all in a single package!!! Leaves you questioning the ease of installation of some other products out on the market??!!
I HOPE the bulkhead version works like a charm.

The reason I'll be going with the bulkhead installation is because I want to keep the Euro brace size down to 3". That way I only need the 7/16" hole in the glass brace.

Hey There Van -

First let me add one more kudo to the long list of kudos already in this thread - your work and design is fantastic- now let's hope your ego doesn't grow uncontrollably. :D :D :D

Anyways, I have been silently following this thread and waiting to see how you might solve the acrylic tank option. To answer the question above, I think the second smaller hole would be a snap to add. I am currently running 2 x 3/4" Sea Swirls and would be interested in trying a Reef Rat for sure.

When you get around to actually selling Reef Rats to random individuals like me I would be proud to be the first kid on my block to have one.

Keep it up!!

Joe

Dumb question. Are these things for sale or strictly build your own? I swear I read the whole thread, but still uncertain.

Tell you what..., I already mentioned you can see about it on his website. Take a moment and check it out for yourself.

Great DIY thread!

I started making one of my own using a rotisserie motor that was recommended in another thread.

Can anyone repost the pictures for the jet nozzle assembly?

Also what is done to keep salt creep and water from seeping into the motor box where the hole for the drive rod is?

Thanks
Tim

reefvan's page on the reef rat is not working. is he done selling/making these? if not dose anyone have a working link to the DIY page. im assuming its very similar to the sea squirrel so if not ill figure it out. the nozzle asembly is the only thing i want to see his specs on. if Toutouche blasts me on this post im gonna be mad. :D

Still Ticking Along - 14 years later.

Just noticed that my original post was in April of 2003... Both the 1" Reef-Rat on my return and the 2" Super-Rat on the closed loop with a Dart, are running strong.

Never been opened, never touched. That's almost 14 years running 24/7/365.

Wow, funny I was just last week talking about my old tank and the reefrats.

What a great surprise to see this pop up again! How's it going Van!? Reunion time lol.
