Reef-safe foxface or rabbitfish?

I would like to add a Foxface or other Rabbitfish for bubble and hair algae control. I also like the a lot, especially the Rabbitfish type but I heard that they might pic on certain corals.

What's your experience and what do you recommend? Any pics?

I would like to try something else than Foxface and Magnificant Foxface, since my prior result weren't so great - both kinds died on me.

The doliantus (scribbled rabbit) is a great fish. I tried to get one from another reefer but it fell trhouigh, ended up getting a blue stripe, it is safe with SPS and LPS but tastes everything, except SPS, at least once just to see what they are... only eats zoos and shrooms though, but it eats ALL zoos and shrooms.

Have you looked at the blue spot rabbits? They are beautiful!

I've had my magnificent foxface for 2yrs now. Model citizen and one of my favorites!

I love my 2-barred rabbit. Awesome personality! Doesn't touch my corals, sps, lps, zoas, leathers nothing.
This is an old pic its about twice the size now.

All rabbits are somewhat of a risk with eating corals - especially as they grow. IME - magnificent are the best bet at eating bubble algae.

I can't veryify that. 3 yrs and I have never had any, on the other hand maybe he has something to do with that....???? ;):p

My Foxface picked a Wellsophylia to death shortly after I got him but left all my other LPS and Zoas alone.

Based on my experience with a single Scribbled (S. doliatus) if I ever want to scrub a tank free of zoanthids, this would be my weapon of choice.

I have a doliatus, and he barely even grazes! I think I feed him too much.

He's the only fish (besides a mandy and small YWG) in the 180 right now. He begs and follows me whenever I'm in the room.

He's a great fish - lots of personality. Eats from my fingers.

I read a lot about them before deciding on this type. Seems they are on the low end of risk for eating zoa's and softies, but there is always a risk.

Not that I am aware of. It wouldn't eat any algae or nori. Just ate pellets and mysis. I went with the magnificent after it got too big.

FWIW - I bought mine as a doliatus, but it was a virgate. They are very similar when they are small.
