Reef safe parrot fish

I am building my 150g (4x3x2) and although I am primary going for tank full of damsels and anthias, I do want one dominant / show fish. I am pretty set to either a trigger or parrot. I saw a post a while back where someone had a reef safe parrot but I couldn't find it anymore. Does anyone know? Will my 150g be too small?

Matt - I randomly came across an emaciated Scarus quoyi at a poorly run LFS I rarely visit. I only knew what it was from a post here about them. It has blossomed in my 300 after nearly 8 months of recovery and is one of my favorites. It has never touched a coral, but certainly could always change it's mind. It periodically scrapes the rock work but seems to prefer nori & mysis to anything else. It was sold as a generic "green parrot" for a mere $39.

Thx Matt.

sedgro,
How big is your quoyi? Do you have a picture? What other fish you have in your tank? Do you feel 150g is too small for one?

Finally been able find a little info from this thread:

In case the link doesn't work, here is a snippet:

You obviously do not own any.

My Ara ararauna v. militaris is not reef safe, or wood safe, or plastic safe, or sheet rock safe, sometimes not even appendage safe.:lmao:

I stand corrected.
There is no substitute for the personal experiences of the participants in these forums.

Amen- my former Poicephalus gulielmi gulielmi was not in the least reef safe, nor anything else he could get his beak on.

I used to visit one of these. Depending on his mood, nothing was safe. But he did like cigarettes.

Not the easiest to get a picture of:

Nice and beautiful fish. I have done more research but it doesn't seem like there aren't lots of info out there. wetwebmedia has some and it seems to indicate this fish isn't easy to care for. How and what do you feed yours? What other fish you have in your tank with him?

I am going to shot LA an email to see if they can provide care requirement.

The one I have heard of being okay in reef tanks is Scarus quoyi. If you find one, I'd love to hear where you found it!

Matt, Jason at GA has one in his main display at the store for a few months and it is very well behaved. I am not sure if he still has another one up still for sale or he sold it. I can give him a call if you would like.

Yep, my former Poicephalus parrot was not even FINGER Safe, let alone Reef Safe! LOL
It took me about 1.5 seconds to get the joke, but its hysterical when you do!
