I want to get a Halichoeres chrysotaenia) wrasse... But the description says it could eat pest to keep corals safe but than it says. Reef comparability with caution.. Why are they with caution for a reef tank???
Favorite fish in my tank. Tons of personality and hasn't bothered anything. He doesn't bother the other wrasse (or any other fish) and my shrimp are not threatend by him at all. He has eaten a few of the very small dwarf cerith snails but I don't think they are too helpful anyway and don't care.
I've had luck with "un" safe wrasses in my tank. I can put peppermint shrimp in the tank at night and he won't ever mess with then but if I drop one in during the day he will eat them. He is a melenarus wrasse.
I would swear that wrasses change their feeding habits and selection as they mature. Not just in size but type - recently I've noticed a bunch of snail/crab shells and a very fat male Rad wrasse
I have 4 haliochores in my tank. banded shrimp, mexican turbos and scarlet hermits are fine. blue legs and smaller snails are at risk and Ive never seen it but i think they are the prime suspect in cleaner shrimp losses
