Reef Salt

Last time i purchased salt, was a long long time ago, i got AquaVitro Salinity ... Is this still the best or obsolete now...

Does anyone local sell it still? Last time i got it from Steve in Daily City, and I am not sure if he is up and running still... And i dont work in SF much anymore. I am located in Oakley on the far part of East Bay.

I am not using AquaVitro. I heard it is good if used soon after being mixed in the water. If the mix is kept for longer periods of time, it appears that the Alk drops considerably. Search online and you'll find various threads describing the issue better.

FWIW, I am using Reef Crystals for 5+ years with no problems. I usually order it online from Drs Foster and Smith or Pet Solutions.

I used to use Aqua Vitro and liked it. However, I now use Instant Ocean, and typically buy it in bulk when it's on sale, oftentimes via online and have it shipped to my house (can't beat not having to carry around 200 gallons worth of salt mix, though my UPS guy probably hates me).

Since I dose Ca, alk, and mag, I see no benefit in spending the extra money on Aqua Vitro. I also like that I can make a batch, use it or hold it for a few days, without worrying about any elements falling out of solution.

TY Dnak i beleive instant ocean also makes the reef crystals... Maybe I will head that way. Say reef crystal for $50 on Amazon for the 200 gallon mix ...
