Reef shrimp!

This guy is doing good in my 38g, he cleans my little meanie of an undulated trigger without skipping a beat.

I'd feed that trigger a few times a day if you really like your shrimp.

He may be difficult to keep with other fish and inverts once he starts growing. Do you have a bigger tank for him?

A while back I was able to get one of my cleaner shrimp, not nearly as good as yours, but I think they are pretty neat,

Great pic! And because of it, I just realized my two cleaner shrimp are both loaded with eggs!

I would have thought only one of them would be carrying eggs, but they both look just like your pic.

Maybe you should mention that the other fire shrimp didn't make it 24 hours with that trigger & hawkfish............also the skunk cleaner that got killed. I think they'll all be meals in due time.

People shouldn't get the impression this works or is fair to the shrimp to satisfy some amusement for a few days or weeks.

I've never had a skunk cleaner in my tank, so I'm not sure where you're getting that.

I purchased two fire shrimp together and one of them didnt last the day. However, it was the one that was roaming all around the tank and not really acting "right" as far as I'm concerned. Maybe it was ready to molt and looking for a good secure cave.

I'm mainly concerned with this fire shrimp being eaten when it goes to molt. If I was a omnivorous fish, I think I'd have a hard time passing up a soft, wriggling target even if it looks like a cleaner.

So far the trigger isnt interested in it at all except for when it wants cleaned, but I'm feeding a lot more than I was originally so I am hoping I'm keeping it's appetite sated.

My mistake on the cleaner. You were talking about cleaners, but not in this tank I guess...........or I was thinking of the six line that got eaten.

A trigger & a hawkfish are bad choices as tankmates with shrimp ............feeding them more won't change that.

Shrimp need slow and careful acclimation. If you can, drip acclimate for at least a couple of hours, with a small heater if necessary.

They also need salinity of at least 1.023.

And like all new purchases, they will benefit from at least a couple of weeks in a low stress, zero competition QT environment.

I'd have to disagree on this. Maybe not IDEAL tankmates, but I had my old 210 with 5 different triggers and I successfully kept two cleaner shrimp in there with no issues. They loved the little cleaner station and visited it regularly.

Hawkfish I have no experience with keeping with shrimp. I didn't attempt shrimp in this tank though until it no longer had a hawkfish, as I've heard they are notorious invert eaters.

Each fish is different, some triggers are monsters and some are not. I was HOPING I had a relatively low aggression undulated (as compared to other undulated) that would leave the shrimp alone. Time will tell if that theory pans out or not.
