I can sympathize completely travis, that's the kinda of stuff that made me give up the green thumb hobby, not enough room for both fish and plants, lol. So I get plants for the fish now :D
Luckily it is predominately pepper plants on top of the tank, so when all those habaneros and such ripen and get picked, the plant can go on the wayward if it so becomes.

We're going to be making another batch of Taco Soup soon, and I'm sure if one of them "accidently" fell in and you "accidently" showed up at our doorstep we wouldn't mind :D

lol.. maybe you can make some nice salsa to go with that party at Paul's house once he finishes his fish bar... *nudge nudge*

We didn't get a chance to grow tomatoes until it was too late. We had one, but as soon as it got ripe, it split with the storm and had bugs all in it the next day :( Maybe next year.

we didnt plant any tomatoes this year.....

but had a great crop from the ones that fell and self set last year. The best crop we have actually had. Crazy huh.

Lucky :D We don't have a yard for that to happen. Any of the peppers that spoiled we let stay in the pot. We have a few baby plants coming up from those. We'll see what we get next year.

I had three cherry tomato plants that had awesome tomatoes ripening everyday..but they're still outside..and pretty much dead by now. But during the summer I just ate them all anyway. ^___^

Well, I bet I will soon. I won some fake coral skeletons at the COMAS December meeting that I will use to breakup the backgroup and stuff, and my wife is getting eager. I think I will be pressured in finishing this very soon. :D

You want pictures? The latest I have are of the plants Sonya had sitting on/in the aquarium ;)

Well, it's been a long time for an update. I took a much needed break from most of all things fishy and took care of some home, family, and fun time. It's spring time now, and I'm starting to catch the fish bug again and I long to clean up some projects. So, I began to work on this again.

As days went by from my last update to now, I would put a rock or two on at a time. All I would do is drill typically just two holes, figure out where I want the rock, pass a ziptie through the rock and past the eggcrate, and use a modified wire hanger like a crochet hook to bring the zip tie back to the front. After that I would just tighten the zip tie and pass the loose end behind the eggcrate instead of cutting it off and leaving sharp ends.

When I began work tonight, this is what I had already finished.

Here is a close up of what the rocks look like as they are placed together.

In a few hours I finally have all the rock drilled and tied to the back wall of eggcrate

Next, it was time to bust out with what will fill in the cracks; Great Stuff spray insulation foam.

I started by doing a corner to see how it would look. I used some extra scraps and crumbs from drilling and pushed them in to the wet foam to help break up the man-made feel about it.

One can of foam later, I almost have the entire back wall completed. Unfortunately, that was the only can I had. So, I'll just have to wait until tomorrows to finish around the overflow area.

After I finish foaming, I'm going to wait 24 and break up the smooth surface of the foam by breaking it up a little with a knife. After 48 hours, I'm going to sit it upright, pop in the pillar supports, fill it with sand, and possibly with water. I have some real live rock that I'll be using for most of the pillars.
