Reefing on a Budget: 75g Tank Build

Does it look more white than pink? I used regular play sand once and it was to pink looking for me.

No, it looks to be if anything a bit more greyer.

At least, that is what the sand I have in my new tank looks like. It could have been the select bag that I used though.

Nope. I have just a very light grey. It looks just like yours, Nick. J4Life, Could it have looked pink because you might have been using VHO actinics?

I think I might do that too. I've been having trouble thinking of how far I want my baffles to be. They look like they could be moved if needed.

A good, you guinea pig it for me, work out all the details, and then it will be ready when it's time for me to give it a try.... :)

My only concern is the pressure on the walls of the cheapo tank I am using as a sump. (10 gall)

I do all sorts of twisted stuff with 10g tanks, but I have to admit that I would worry about it, too.

That is a high possibility since my lighting system back then was all VHO's.

I just saw the insta-baffles article. What a great idea! Too bad I didn't see this before converting my 55 gallon spare into a sump for my 75 gallon tank.:(

Of course if I don't like the way my siliconed baffles work out I will just cut them out clean up the excess sealant and redo it using the insta idea.

Thanks for sharing that info MyMonkey.:D

Almost thought this thread was lost. What ballast are you use for your lights?

Sorry Travis, I will jump in front of you on this reply. :D

It is a ballast from BallastWise,

It can push up to 4 54W bulbs.

Why I know this is that I am going to be using the same thing for my tank, pushing 4 4' T5 bulbs over my 100.

The biggest issue that Travis and I have had with this ballast, is getting some copper wire to run with it.

The ballast ships with no wiring harness, but for the price of the ballast, almost makes it worth it.

Sorry, a little bible moment.
