Reefkeeper Elite or Apex

Want to buy a controller this weekend while Aquacave has their 10% off sale, help me make my mind up on which one to get.
Everybody vote and give me your pros and cons.
Thanks.:bounce2:

Well, do a search on Reefkeeper controllers and Apex controllers on reef central. You can do this nicely with google e.g. : 'apex controller', site:reefcentral.com I personally use Profilux.

You can't go wrong with either. I happen to have a reefkeeper lite but plan to upgrade to the elite. This is my first controller but I couldn't be happier. I have seen some posts about people preferring the apex due to better customer service but I have never had an issue. I have heard that the reefkeeper is easier to program. All I know is that I had my system up and running within an hour.

I will likely buy a controller soon. From my research, I am leaning towards the Apex lite. That one seems to be the best combination of features and price for me. Apex seems more popular on these boards.

I had the same idea. I purchased the Apex yesterday from aquacave. It came out to $404 without the ph probe. Hopefully I get it soon.

Well thanks for the thread.

Just pulled the trigger on an apex with the lab grade Ph probe. Also picked up some PC bulbs for my currentUSA fixture that I got for free and a couple of heaters for my quarantine.

I have a RKL level 3 .It was a pain to figure out . Once it was up and running I have no issues with it. The Apex is more intuitive . I pulled the trigger a lil too soon as within a week the apex lite got released .
I have the RKL controlling the heater , ATO , rose/pink leds, skimmer . It also monitors ph and temp . Onky upgrade I see is the net module . Works for me .

I have an old Reef Keeper 2. Pre internet capability. With recently losing 80% of my fish to a power outtage and nearly my whole tank, I need something I can check remotely for peace of mind. I just can't bite the bullet on either. I'm in the same situation though, I need a internet capable monitoring system, either the RKE or Apex. I After losing my fish I just don't have the funds to fund a controller right now. So I'll stick with 3 fish for the time being and my current controller... :(

I would go with Apex all the way or wait for the new controller from Vertex. The new Apex Jr. is going to be way sweet too!

I have a Reefkeeper Lite right now and as soon as I send it in to be fixed, it will be sold! I am sick of fighting this stupid thing. It worked for one year and then quit. Digital Aquatics was great to extend my warranty but they sent me back a defective unit! You call that customer service???

I am now in talks with them to fix it once again but I am not paying shipping this time around. They didn't fix it the first time, why should I pay for their mistakes?

Go with Apex IMO.

Got the Apex from Aquacave about a week ago, very happy with the decision.
Programming looked overwhelming at first but after playing with it for couple of days it ALL started to make sense.
