ReefKeeper or RK2 controller group buy?

I'm not pushing the ACjr, but ReefTankSupply, who did our group buy, has another going. $240 for the Jr with DC8 and PH probe before shipping.

Just in case you can't get enough for the RK2.

PS. I can't post the website since he got banned for "commercial selling" since he isn't a RC sponsor.

Same package can be had for $245/$255 in our Norcal GB. :) though I wish the ACJR would have the nice color display like the RKII, both are nice units i twas a hard decission.

RK2

RK2

Well the check came, and the corrosion on my current setup was too much for me to deal with anymore so i went and picked up my RK2 and an expansion socket. I have all the parts mounted except the PH probe, which i have to calibrate tomorrow. Once i'm happy with my setup i'll change over to th RK2.
A note to the folks about to buy the RK2, the cord between the display and the power unit is just over 4 ft long. I ended up buying an extension for it to make work for my location. Its an easy quick addition and is available at Radio Shack.

Sorry that we couldn't get the group order together quicker for you. Please share your experiences with us as you use it a little more!

I've got everything mounted and am going to switch over tonight after i calibrate my PH probe. I'll be happy to provide input on the user friendly part when i get it fully online. A quick request to anybody out there, i'm looking for a 5 gal tank or acrylic tank that is no more than 15x16 inches. I plan on adding a refugium to my reef and thats all the room i have to work with in the stand. Thanks in advance if anybody has somethin layin around...

RK2 quick review

RK2 quick review

Well folks the controller is up and running without any problems due to the RK2 (i had to untangle all my cords that were behind the stand). Setup on the unit is pretty simple and straight forward . I ended up mounting the display in the right side cabinet door itself. I figured that cutting a hole in a weight bearing part of the stand was a bad idea, plus the fish would have freaked out with me drilling and sawing on the stand. Calibrating the PH probe was easy, and has given me a more accurate picture of how dynamic my reef really is. I love the standby/feed mode, i don't have to worry about forgeting to turn my pumps and skimmer back on. AND for the first time my wife actually took it upon herself to feed the tank since all she has to do is push one button and dump in the food. Since my tank is in the bedroom the dimming display is great, at 100% brightness it really is bright. I set mine at 50%. The new firmware will have a day/ night setting so i can drop it back to 25% at night. So far i am really happy with the unit. The next thing i am going to do is run a cable from the tank to my PC for both upgrades and the graphing update that is coming soon. If anybody has any questions feel free to PM me.

How long are you guys waiting before ordering?

I think that the consensus was that the next meeting will be the cut off. I will likely order the following Monday. I'm on call for work on the night of the meeting, but I should be able to make it.

Looks like Raymond's out...

I want to have at least 5 in this order... I may be ordering 2 (christmas present for Dad's tank)

I have cleared my schedule and I will be accepting payments then.

There seems to be a lot of underlying interest... if this is too soon for most people and I can guarantee more orders, I will wait an extra week or so.

cowcio, the prices you found are good but I'm not going to get involved with sending payment to a club in California and then hope they get everything to us fine. If there are problems (which are almost guaranteed) it will be a pain to clear things up. When you sent a PM about a controller group buy I said I would look into it. Since you have found this other stuff I have stepped out and the club will not be involved because of the possible headaches. If anyone wants to get in on the buy with you that is purely up to them but it will not be a C-SEA buy and as the group buy chairman I will not try to promote it. I wish you the best of luck. I will just pay the extra $30 or $40 if I need one before we get a group buy together for the club.

I am not upset but want to be perfectly clear that any problems or questions should not be directed toward me or the club.

No offense taken, but...
I think there was a misunderstanding here.

The group buy is NOT through a club in California. It is from a dealer that will ship it directly to me (or you, if you please) after I send him money. In fact, each person is more than welcome to send him to money privately, but he would prefer to only recieve one payment.

If the club does not wish to be a part of this, please have this thread deleted from the board.

If you would like more information, please e-mail or PM me and do not make assumptions.

I believe the confusion came from a member of the California group buy posting in our forum about his deal... not from me.

Kevin-

I sent you a PM with a few more details.

Sorry about the confusion. I hope that you are still interested in saving 40+ dollars!
