Reefkeeping in America's Heartland - OzarksReef Rimless Cube

Awesome pictures.love the anthias.

Thanks - I'm really lovin' these anthias. They have been really low maintenance and have adapted well to the aquarium. Will be interesting to see how the group develops over time.

Great looking tank David!

Thanks Ronnie - just visited WUW earlier this month in your neck of the woods. Are you working on a new setup?

Welcome back Ozark .. im your big fans .. your 60 and 30 is awesome .. Glad to see u back in the game ..

Thanks a lot - seems I can never have just one tank going at a time :fun4:! I've got a couple of frag tanks plumbed into this system and have been thinking about setting up an ADA 60F in the near future. Thanks for tagging along!

I am David. Working on setting up a 60g rimless with a custom sump from synergy. Once I get a bit closer, I'll post up a build thread. Working on the stand now.

Looking forward to seeing the build on that! I've really had my eye on the ATI hybrid lighting - will be interested to see the results you get with it. Keep us posted!

I'm really liking the fixture a lot. It's the best color rendition I've ever had.

Beautiful fish photos. Keep the updates coming. I've liked your work from way back, hence I looked into your old thread.

Your tank is what has finally eon spired me to upgrade to a 93g rimless, awesome tank as well as the photos.

Thanks Sahin - sure appreciate the comments and your contributions to the community here. I've been working on a nano setup over the past couple of weeks, so have been a bit side-tracked. Will update this thread soon.

Your tank is what has finally inspired me to upgrade to a 93g rimless, awesome tank as well as the photos.

Congrats on the upgrade - you'll enjoy the cube. Hope to hear how things go with your tank.

Beautiful photos :eek2:

Thanks - sure appreciate it. I've been experimenting with a top down photo box and hope to get more shots up soon.

just curious what made you switch from the razors to the mitras on this build?

I'm always experimenting with a different fixture - searching for the ever-elusive perfect light. I had read good things about the mitras and liked the fact that such a small fixture could cover my 30" x 30" footprint. Jury's still out, but so far I'm enjoying the overall color rendition and coral reaction to this light.

I started having some cyano problems earlier in the month and decided I'd investigate the sandbed for die off. Discovered some dead nassarius snails from a recent cleanup crew buy - some were pretty decomposed. I decided to siphon the sandbed (it's only around 1" deep) to pull out all the gunk.

Everything handled the siphoning well and the cyano is gone for the most part. Still have a few diatoms in the sand though - but am seeing them improve each day. I'm starting to see some pretty good growth now that the system is past the 6-month mark. Here's a few shots from today...you can click on the photos to enlarge them.

Bird of Paradise - love this coral!

The deepwater I got from Seth is coloring up nicely and showing new growth

I have a nice new colony of Mummy Eye chalice. This one usually morphs into an orange-ish color under my LEDs - we'll see!

May have to referee this battle of montis - the red is trying to grow OVER the green...

I am holding my breath on the Red Planet. The colors are stunning on this coral - but the trick will be maintaining them. Nearly at two weeks now and all's well...

Yellow Millie is center of tank and growing faster than most other corals. Loves very HIGH light!

My last frag of Season's Greeting montipora - grow little frag, grow!

Wow, excellent photos! Looks like colours are holding out well under the LED. Be interesting to see what happens with the Red Planet over the next couple of months. Keep up the good work and keep the photos coming. :)

Tank looks awesome! i am coming up on the 6th month mark and im excited to finally see some large growth taking place. your colors are amazing as well keep up the good work!

Your photos are exceptional and your reef is looking great! I love angle of the full tank shots. I also am a cube guy :) I had a 30, 34, 60, and I bypassed the 93 because my buddy builds primo tanks :)
How's the spread on the mitras in person? Does it brightly light the whole cube, or get dim towards the outer parts?
