I was snooping around and was wondering if anybody was interested in organizing a group buy from reefkingdom.com. They offer free shipping on orders over $250. I personally have $75 worth of corals that i want to get so thats a large chunk there!

Is anybody interested?

i guess i could i just never have before and dont really know what it takes. If somebody would like to fill me in on what and how things work i would be more then happy to.

ok that probably will make people not want to do it!! cause im a newb at group orders!!! I actually have $95 worth of coral i would want to get so thats close to half an order if we would want to get free shipping. If anybody is interested, i would like to have this going by the end of wednesday, so the coral could be here by thursday or friday at the latest. Weather isnt supposed to get crappy till saturday so the earlier the better. Do i need to call these ppl or anything???

Im excited now!!!

Randall, you have as much experience as most of us do at doing group orders. Call the vendor and talk to them for guidance on what they want done. Ask about pay pal payments or do they want 1 person to pay all up front etc. The two coral I am looking at would be $60 for me.

All it takes is a willingness to do the dirty work. As Murfman said, give them a call and see if they will combine seperate orders into a single group buy or if they want one person to order the whole thing.
I can't see squat through the work firewall but I will take a look at what they have later from home.

ok well i emailed him asking about combining orders or if they want one person to order the entire thing. I also asked about paypal and if they offer any additional discounts for RC members. I will let you know when i get an email back. It didnt offer a phone number so that is the only way to contact them.

murf and thurge, i have been doing some research on reefkingdom, and i havent heard much good things about their products or customer service...im now hesitating about this group buy. Im thinking maybe we should hold off from this place.....are there any other good websites that have a better reputation for good corals and customer service?

I think getting corals on line is going to be hit or miss. You can have good experiences and bad ones from the same company. The ricordia group buy going on right now is a good example. We had a great experience and the group doing it now got hosed. Let me know either way. If I don't get some corals, I will look for a new Blennie.

Paul is right, its very hit or miss even with the same company.
I always push scott at exotic tropicals to get better and more high end stuff.
He got a bunch of ORA frags and fish today and I think he's getting more from another exotic type coral vendor tomorrow possibly.
I'd tell him something you saw online and if your serious he'll get it. The LFS market needs to know what we want, otherwise they will just keep on getting the same stuff that sells.
Anyway thats just a thought, I'd still be interested in a group buy, you just need to contact a few vendors and find out who sounds the best.

ok so im all for continuing with the group buy:

What would everybody want with totals.
Also i asked the seller and he would rather have one person pay for the entire amount and in the comment section of the order, put names and what corals they want with an email address. Sounds good to me.

Like i said im completely new at this group buy so i have a question. Am i having to pay the entire amount of the bill prior to getting everybodys money. Therefore if the coral comes in dead (hoping it wont) that im completely financially responsible for the order? sorry thats a stupid question i guess but i just dont know. All im saying is that i dont have the funds to afford everybodys coral if they decide they dont want it or dont want to pay, or if the order doesnt make it. Maybe someone else should fund it and have it shipped my my address if that works. Im just concerned about me not getting the money from everyone

Its not a complete lack of trust but honestly i have never ever met anybody here so...i hope that makes sense.

ok then!

ok so this is what i have so far:

me:
Rainbow acan: $25
True Red Zoa's: $30
Warrior Acan: $40

Murf:
Warrior Acan: $40
Dragon Daisys: $20

total so far: $155

is there any way to set it up to where you guys pay me with paypal into my paypal account before we order and then i will pay them with that paypal card? Just wondering if that is a possibility
