Reeflink - Remote Restarting

I have been having some issues with my Reeflink losing communication after a power outage/blown fuse. My apex has no trouble, but it seems that if both the Reeflink and the router power on at the same time, the Reeflink doesn't connect properly. Is there a way to remote in and restart the Reeflink?

The issue there is that when you are not physically there to power cycle it. Relying on controlling your system remotely through the hub is difficult if you know that it will not restart correctly in the event of power or internet interruption. Is there a way you can program a start delay so that it waits a short amount of time before turning on when power returns?

I'm with you on this. There are basic things I would expect and that is one of them. Mine usually goes down do to a blip in internet service. If my internet goes down the unit should perform some type of reconnect ever so many minutes.

I'm getting in on this thread a bit late, but do you have a spare outlet on your apex? Just plug the reeflink into that and you can restart it remotely through the apex. You might even be able to program the apex to restart it automatically after a power failure.

:/ So I need an Apex for my Reeflink to work correctly?

I have two powerbars, and I would prefer to use them on anything but the Reeflink. To top it off, the Wifi performance was weak, so it is hardwired to the router.

Squid,

If you're still having issues with the ReefLink contacting us directly would be best.

I did contact you directly, and was given this response:
Unfortunately there is no way to restart the ReefLink remotely if it is disconnected from EcoSmart Live. We do have a soft reset option which will cycle power, but the ReefLink needs to be connected to EcoSmart Live for this to work.

This is exactly the same as what you said, besides the strange advice about power cycling through a live connection. If my ReefLink was connected to EcoSmart live then I wouldn't be having a connectivity issue in the first place.

Shockingly, I couldn't manually plug in Ecotech devices directly to the Reeflink, I needed to pay yet again to upgrade my pump to a wireless model. The Reeflink provides very little functionally besides acting as a proprietary wireless connection hub to devices which customers have already paid for to be wireless. Additionally, Ecosmart Live does not work when my phone is connected to the same network as the Reeflink, likely because it is pointing to the Reeflink's external IP address :/.

Given these limitations, I am very much regretting purchasing the Reeflink and should have gone with a more technically sophisticated product, something like Apex's WXM module.
