how long did you have those percs in there before the skimmer, the water quality could be inducing them to spawn. but i havent heard of that before. ;)

I have had them for a little over 7 years and they do a lot of spawning.
they have outlasted a few marriages that I know

What is the preferred feed pump? How many GPH?

I just picked one up at Reef-a-palooza and now I gotta figure out how to get it set up. Also, have any of you flooded/overflowed the skimmer?

Can't you just use the drain on the dart impeller housing to drain the skimmer? Maybe there is a fitting that could be screwed into this to make it easier to drain?

Randy you should have included a FTS earlier I would have jumped in a lot faster!!! Love the tank!!!

well, I have ahd my skimmer approaching 6 weeks now and Im still amazed at how well it is performing.

Since my skimmer is in the garage I removed the little silencer doo-dad at the top of the air intake in the hopes it may bring more air in with less restriction. It is slightly noisier, but barely noticable. I do think there is more air flow as the water level rose somewhat, but not a great deal.

I still pull copious quantities of gunk, but I am feeding a little heavier now.

I should get my 100g refugium online later today !! woohoooo
at my age getting ecited about the chance to do a little plumbing....

heres a shot of my fish room, as it is now - on its way to completion.

and if by chance you are curious as to all the pipes....

I have yet to fit the shelves above the sump and the bench above the refugium for the frag tank....but its getting there.

I also have to get the electricals run in panduit. The extension cords in the picture are there temp while im fitting equipment.

on a side note, the lack of a drain plug in the Reeflo made me take time to fit a drain plug on my refugium.

No floods with mine but when I restart my skimmer after washing my two filter socks I go slow with turning the air on so it wont foam over.

I have heard that the feed pump should be 400 gph I am running just over 700gph through mine and its skimming like a champ.

Set up is pretty easy i added teflon tape to the slip on pipes and had no leak issues. The lack of directions suck. The skimmers sweet spot is to set the water level with out air at the black coller where the cup connects to the body. Then add full air and it should skim well for you.

Good luck and let us know how you like it.

what size is the chamber in the middle. It looks like it is 8" but not sure. Anyone have an idea

12" chamber

I was wondering about the smaller tube inside the the diffuser is attached to. Any Idea what size that is and how tall it is as well

I would say ten or eleven inches there is only about a inch clearence between that and the side wall. After the plate it opens up to the 12 chamber.

Can i ask why you wanted to know this?

The drain on the bottom of the Dart impeller housing will accept a thoroughly Teflon taped 1/4" MPT ball valve similar to the one that is on the air intake. This pretty much solves the need for a drain IMO =)

I'm setting 780gal system sps heavy fish load how do you think this skimmer handle the load do you think I would need two?
