I have 3 diggerent darts in my house. one white, one black and one blue. The newer white and black ones are the resin cast housings, which are better/stronger.IMO I personally like the look of the black housing.

They are awesome, huh? Cant wait to get mine going.

Quick question, did you do anything to waterproof your stand? Just wondering because it looked unfinished in the pic, and you might want to put some sort of sealant on if you havent already.

Yes I am going to seal everything after I know everything is built. I also have to wait until it gets a little warmer so I can open all the windows in the house. I almost wiped out my other tank with fumes, when I painted the basement walls.

I will mod your air silencer Sunday, Mike. You will have to be patient till then. I would still run an air dryer on that thing.IMO

I'm gonna run a dryer on it. Just like the one you have.

I'm not in a hurry though bro. I still need to order it and a ORP controller. ;)

Do you run an air pump with that setup or let the vacuum pull it in? If the vacuum method, does it pull enough competing with the regular inlet?

How long does it take your skimmer to recover from a feeding? Mine seems to take about 4.5-5 hours to get back to normal. Seems a little long, no?

klasiksb,

Mine does the same thing when I feed fatty/oily foods like mysis shrimp. Spectrum pellets that are fed thru an autofeeder several times a day has no effect all. I have also found that nori makes the skimmer go into overdrive for some reason.

up and working

up and working

Finally it is up and going. Thanks Mike @ reefspecialty here are some pictures. Had time with all this snow.

$1250.00 for a skimmer Cat bed priceless :)

how did you mount the JG fitting? You just drill it out and teflon tape it?

A few pics of the new cup. The skimmate is much more controllable then with the stock cup. I'm glad to see Mike is making this an affordable upgrade with the gold pump as well for $1600.

I also got the new cup and the modded container from reefspecialty.com. Mike was very helpful.

This new cup is no joke. It has a serious f-ing head on it.
