Reeflux 12K bulb ?

I've got a 250W DE Reeflux bulb, running on a HQI ballast and I'm not that happy with it. All the colors in my 30 gallon are dull, no pop. I have a 75 gallon that is plumbed to the tank with a 6 bulb T5 Tek light that colors up my acros so much better. The difference between the same acros is significant, you wouldn't even know they were the same corals.

I've gon through so many bulbs, I'm getting sick of trying to find something that will give me a nice white/blue look without actinic suplement. I don't care how much I have to pay at this point, I just want a bulb that runs a white to blue on HQI and gives decent growth.

Any ideas for me?!
 
I used the Phoenix and I wasn't a big fan. I liked the look from far away but when I got close, things were very dim.

I've never tried the hammy 14K's. How would they compare to a Phoenix?
 
I'm running the 400w SE version of these. They are a very crisp; bright white bulb and really bring out the colors well.

Hahnmeister has experience with a lot of bulbs, maybe try sending him a PM.
 
Yeah I'm using T5's. Even when I shut the T5's off, the bulbs look white. They really are a great bulb. I just can't say for sure if the 250w DE version looks the same.
 
ushio 20k its amazing tons of pop ill go take some pics for you greens are awsome blues great even gold comes out nice
im only relaying my experience my lfs has one instance where the customer did not like the appearance but remember t5 can bring out some colors that no halide gets to i think not sure why
 
i just bought some 20k off of ebay for 140 bucks for 4 bulbs they are not a name brand bulb but man do the colors just pop, IMO they are way better then the phoenix 14's i was running, granted i just have been using them now for 3 weeks so i dont know how long they will last, my next choice was going to be the evc 20k but i couldnt find them anywhere so i figured for 140 i would give it a shot, very impressed
 
his user name is downundersaltwalter, it looks like he doesnt have any 250 de on there right now but , contact him by going into one of his other bulbs for sale and just ask him cause he says he gets them all the time plus he'll give u better price over the phone, thats what i did plus he shipped them priority to me i got them in 2 days

You happen to have any pics of your tank? I know they never turn out like what they look like in person, but I'd like to get an idea. How would you describe the color of the bulb and are you running any actinic supplements with them?

u would have to get ahold of him through ebay, sorry dont have any pics i dont know exactly how to down load pics on to the computer, but i would have to say they are more on the blue side and really make the colors pop, i'm not into the white look like the 10k xm's they dont do it for me, but for 30 bucks a bulb, its worth a try rather then 60-80 bucks a bulb
 
do you know the company name he's selling under or can you give me a link to the bulbs on ebay siding88. I can't find a think under downundersaltwater on ebay.
