Reef's Edge visit on Friday

I was really please. Never been there, saw their name mentioned here, and decided to visit.

Coincidentally, around that time, I got a coupon book in the mail, around Wed/Thu or so. Reef's Edge had a half-page ad, with coupons, if any of you have that book.

It has 50% off live rock, buy 1 get 1 1/2 off on coral and fish, $29.99 blue powder tangs.

When I visited, they had a TON of blue hippo tangs, if any of you are looking. They had everything from dime/nickel-sized and up! Mark and company were really nice, and I was very pleased with what I got, what they had, and the service/attention I received! 2 thumbs up!

They also had a half-and-half wrasse, which is not seen often. I have one I got at Age of Aquarium. Peaceful, not a finicky eater, doesn;t mess with the other fish. It picks a crevice, and lays down in it to sleep at night.

This wrasse will fool you - when I frst got it, several times I thought it was dead, and when I got near it to check (net, etc...) it took off!!!

as juveniles (like mine, and the one at Reef's Edge), they are yellow-tailed,black on the back half, silvery-white on the head, with a diagonal split between the two. Interesting and not too often seen.

Great for us Pat will honor those coupons at Reeflife.
If you compared pricing RE is by far the most expensive LFS around IMO.
One example -orange rics polyps they sell for $25 when u can get them around for $15(yikes thats a 10 dollar diff)
Anyways buyer beware.

Gee, wonder where Reef's Edge got the idea for that ad in Clipper magazine????

Looked AMAZINGLY similar to Reef's life's ad's that have been in the same magazine the last few months:rolleyes:

I'm surprised they didn't mistakenly put a coupon for their Orchid room in their ad when copying Reef life's coupon. Just proves what i said long ago on here about Reef's Edge and their owners practices!:bum:

sufunk, your personal vendetta against Reef's Edge has been well documented on here. Isn't it about time to stop going after them every single time their name comes up? How many years has it been now?

Regardless of your personal argument about having your tank serviced, Mark and Katie run a clean shop and have quality livestock. I, and I'm sure many others, will continue buying from them, despite your repeated bashings.

I think that was there new shipment from their regular African fish supplier. IMO these are the healthiest fish I have seen in a local fish store. I got a PBT from their African shipment a while ago, and he never showed any signs of ich (only tang I have ever bought that was clean). I am planning on getting a kole and perhaps a few of the small yellow-belly blues from them in the future. The African fish are always just a little different and more exotic than their cousins from other parts, and thankfully its one of the areas of the world where cyanide is not used.

Well all in all as previously stated-its great for all of us in the hobby. We get great stuff at competitive prices-What else can u ask for?
Hurray for capitalism!!!!!
But please Buyer Beware!

True-True I think Mr. Sufunk is entitled to his opinion too dont u think.
But Jeff fortunately for us we live in the greatest country in the world U.S , freedom of speech and consumerism still reigns supreme.
We all shop where we feel comfortable, and yes RE has great livestock just like many other LFS around.
Anyways I agree and disagree- They are trying too make a living and we are providing them with part of their income.
IMO these are the healthiest fish I have seen in a local fish store.
Agree-$$$ but healthy.
I got a shoal of anthias from them as well as a beautiful midas and certainly fish are extremely healthy. And my experience has been very good so far.

BTW so u guys know most(90%) if not all of livestock (fish) comes from the same place down in Miami (wholesaler) Milli's .
I've visited multiple times and have seen all the LFS owners at some point or anther there.
Anyways again we should feel lucky we have so many options.Don't ya think!

Here's my new rant- Hey u guys at the FARM i got a colony and it bleached< I want my money back right NOW LMAO.
:D It happens I knew I was gambling and I lost well next time around I'll be lucky. Its just the nature of this hobby!!!
Ultimately we are all responsible for what we buy and put in our tanks wether we like it or not, and all of the LFS are trying to do the same thing and that is too make a living and feed their families.
IMHO THE MORE THE MERRIER.!!

is that what milli told you?

the invoices at the actual shops may tell a different story, but if you saw them at some point - then they must buy 90% of thier stuff there!

First off, i've said maybe 1 bad word about them on here in the last 6 month's. I'm sure their name has been brought up plenty without me saying a word.

I would have even left this alone except for the specific reference by the thread starter about "THEIR" coupon. Sorry, i call a spade a spade. BLATANTLY ripping off your competitors coupons, in the same magazine no less, is pathetic at any level no matter what you think about Mark and Katie.

Trust me, i laugh at my supposed "personal vendetta" against them. Ask the owners of reel life or eco-reef how much money i've spent in those stores setting up and stocking my 180. Alot of that would have went to Reef's Edge but Mark and Katie just wanted an easy $75 instead.

If you like their store so much, great, enjoy paying double at Reef's Edge even with "their" coupons:strooper:

Where is Milli's?

I used to go to a wholesaler in Hialeah about 10 years it has since closed or moved. They were only open to the public Saturday morning for a few hours. i only saw fish for the same price as lfs and very poor lighting hard to see condition of the fish. Is Milli's something like?

Thanks,
Ben

DB,

The wholesaler you mentioned that used to be in Hialeah I actually remember checking out twice while an ex boss of mine would buy from there. Of course now that I have my own tank it's not there anymore!!! :(

Milli's is actually All Seas and is open wholesale for shops only. The other place was International and has been out of business for more then 3 years.
