Reflectors reflectors reflectors?????????

Need help on reflector choice. I know everyone likes the lumen max, but I was thiking of useing hydoponic reflectors.
The ones that have glass and a cooling adapter so you can hook them together and to a fan to draw all the hot air out of the fixtures. This should reduce the inside hood temp by quite a bit.

The only thing I see is that they don't have a polished surface they have that dimppled look. They say 95% reflective just like most others.

Is this something I should worry about. Or should I forget it all and buy the lumen max. The hydoponic reflector are about $100 bucks for the less expensive one up to $150.

Another Idea would be to buy the lumen max an drill a lot of small holes just right above the bulb and buy the cooling adapter used on the hydo ones and attacha fan straight out the hood for each reflector.

Anyone have any other ideas???????
Help would be great!!!!!!!

go to www.reefexotics.com for the lumenarcs, i belive they are cheaper....But i would definatly buy lumenarcs as your reflector...I am setting up a 120, and will be using the mini's so they can fit inside my canopy and still not make the canopy so big.

Are different reflectors interchangeable w/ different ballast or is the old dice and splice required to match brand (A) reflector with a brand (B) ballast?

I realy like those lumenarc with the ac option. Man they are pricey. I'm leaning towards buying them but I'm just looking around for other options . I will probably purchase something this afternoon.

well I bought them. The lumenarc with a/c option. I bought other stuff too but I thunk the reflectors can to $475 for 3. OUCH:eek2:

Well thanks guys for helping me picking out the right reflectors. I never knew that lumenarc had an A/C option. It is the perfect match for me. The former owner of my tank said they had heat issuse during the summer so I wanted to do anything and everything to reduce heat without a chiller. Every little bit of heat removed will help.

But I do wonder if I I should use individual fans and also if I should remove the glass so that it brings in the air from the canopy past the bulb and out the duct??? OR maybe have the intake and exhaust air coming from outside the hood???

Maybe I'll experiment and try all and see which is the best.

I use two lumenarc mini's on my 120 and don't have any heat issues. I'm using a sump fan and two ice cap fans, and that' it.

The light out put from these reflectors are amazing! I couldn't believe the difference from the spider reflectors that I was using before!

I have been talking to them, where you got your lumenarcs from and talking about the A/C option! I think that i might order them and order a fan for each reflector! Can you take a pic and post it when you get your and show your hand or something for size reference? Thanks

sure I'll snap a few shots when I get them I don't think they have been shipped yet. I'm going to get the ducting and fans from a hydoponic site. they have a plastic duct, so no worry of rust. I will also use a fan for each reflector but I'm still wondering about running them with out the glass.

I run mine without the glass, no problems yet. There far enough away from the water that there isn't any splashing that could hit the bulbs and cause a problem.

I just recieved the reflectors so I'll try to get a pic this weekend. Man they are huge.
My wife asked if I was building some thing for NASA. They look high tech and boy are they shiny.
